Default The "do not exceed" drop specs on coils...

Question...and I'm sure this is relative to any adjustable coilover setup. When you read the instructions, they give you a ride height range in which you can adjust (usually by measuring from the linkage on the bottom of the coilover to the top of the adjustment nut above the threads. Now, what theoretically could happen if you go out of range (only slightly)? I haven't installed my setup yet but was wondering if it would/could cause damage if I even go just 5mm more out of the suggested range? Thanks.

I don't think it's possible to go out of the range because you run out of threads and it stops.

My Bilstein PSS setup does not! The threads go up the entire shock body! I have not installed them yet so I can put the connecting linkage in a vice and simply keep adjusting. However, I do not want to go past the "not to exceed" amount but was wondering if another 5-10mm would do damage and how. Another 5-10mm would bring the car down another 1/2" or so.

Sometimes manufacturers are conservative with these ranges. I heard of people cutting or even taking out the helper spring; which I will not do but people do it. Do all these people always wind up damaging their suspension?

I have my PSS cranked all the way down to zero threads exposed up front with 5 threads left in the rear. No issues with 2 years of useage. Slap them on already.
