humm, my 250 has crappy B dust..too Does this apply to the IS250?

 

These are sedans, not M3's...the brake dust is ugly and I don't drive all crazy..but the only thing I'd like is that the brakes would be FREE. And still quality. It's all in what each of us like. Looks or performance, cuz we obviously can't have both.

 

Yup... again... I guess its geared towards different buyers.

Free brake pads.. humm... I'll ask for them when they're worn out enough.

 

Reduce the braking performance that you paid for, for cleaner wheels. Smart!

Just because there is less dust does NOT mean that they will perform less. Yes Lexus is acknowledging that there may be dome decrease in performance, is it noticeable? We don’t know that, haven’t felt it personally and haven’t seen test results in the braking distances. A great example is the Akebono pads available for the 2gen GS, better performance and MUCH less brake dust. A better less related example is the Porsche 911 and similar models, arguably the best brakes in the business, excessive dust problems? Nope.

Why on earth would anyone complain about this TSB? Seems people complain by the hoards about the dust. Lexus certainly could have overlooked this one. Me, personally I'm going to make a complaint about it next time I'm at the dealership. Then I'm going to say don’t fix it yet because I'm deciding about the performance issues, then I'm going to have them replace the pads once I have about 20k miles. If I don’t like them then hopefully there will be a better pad I can just buy and have installed at my friend's shop for cheap. It's a win win situation.

 

How about complaining because the TSB doesn't apply to anything but the GS430?

I have it up on the screen right now. Applicable vehicles: 2006 model year GS 430 vehicles.

It does not say any IS model. TSB number is BR002-06. There are no TSBs of any kind for ISx50 brakes as of this date and time.

 

Now that is a valid complaint except the OP says it's for IS350's as well and the TSB # was quoted as TSB2203 Is that the descrepancy?

 

Only had the car for a week and it's already got dust on the rims. Maybe I'll get it serviced when I do the 5K...

 

Haha, I think by "excessive" we mean that you get brake dust on your rims from just a day or two, not a week. Brake dust from a week's worth of driving is pretty normal, IMO...

haha yeah... after a nice cleaning then a hard drive, i have to clean the rims again... maybe if we get some details i might think about changing mine. who knows... they might be just as good? i'm getting my 10K done next week, i'll be sure to ask.

 

I read what the OP said. I logged into TIS and checked (I bought an annual subscription cause I'm that kind of gearhead and I own four Toyota cars right now). There are no brake TSBs for any ISx50. None at all of any kind. I checked the GS430. There is a TSB, exactly as the OP described for the GS430, and only the GS430. Also, the OP's TSB number does not follow TMUSA convention. Here are the latest TSB titles:

Lobuxracer is correct. The OP doesn't know what he's talking about or he, himself, was given bad info. I also went into TIS (corporate version) and The Dealer Daily Network. TSB2203 is not even a good number. There is no reference to a less dusty pad for the IS. I also called Lexus Technical Dealer Assistance and sure enough, no such pad or TSB exists.
Also, notice how he says that the TSB mentions the part number yet, he never posts it. I, for one, would like to see this part number.
