Default something is burning when i brake hard...pls help

sup yall.....so i get this odor that smells like something is burning when i brake really hard (from high speed)....im pretty sure its my brakes....not sure if its the pads or rotors or what....was wondering if any of yall had this issue before?

i'm not sure of what make/brand my brake pads are (bought the car used) or my rotors.....what brake pads do you recommend? OEM or aftermarket?

Is it after one stop? or multiple stops? if after multiple stops, don't worry it's normal, but if it's after just one you might want to get your pads/rotors checked out as well as anything else that might be near them.

in this case, it would be after multiple stops......this happend during my commute to work...drive, stop, drive, stop, etc, etc....then had to hit the brakes hard to avoid running a red light and hitting a pedestrian.....

after hitting them hard, i smelt the burning odor coming from my brakes...i didn't get out to look for smoke, but the odor was def noticeable....

this is happened a few times now....wasnt sure if this was normal or not...i am pretty impressed w/ teh stock brakes on the GS...this car is huge and heavy and it stops pretty well for stock brakes

What kind of speeds were you starting and stopping from? I know when I do something like 100mph and I hit the brakes hard I get the wonderful brake smell. However if it's in stop go traffic I've never had the smell.

def not 100mph...prob more like 60-70mph hard stop....in stop/go traffic when i brake normally (lightly) i do not get any burning odor.

Yep perfectly normal. Just let the brakes cool down every now and then. After an emergency stop and when you get that smell DO NOT (I REPEAT!!) DO NOT use the footbrake when you're at a standstill. Immediately use the e-brake (parking brake or handbrake as we call them), otherwise you do increase chances of warping your discs .
