Brake and Rotor questions??
My '99 GS400 just turned 70K and according to a friend (taking a quick visual inspection in the driveway) it looks like my rear pads are just about gone and he said the rear rotors were scarred on the outside at a minimum. The front pads were about 50% worn. I have stock suspension with 17" wheels and to the best of my knowledge all of the brake components are OEM.
I was going to order the Akebono ProAct pads. Do I need to replace both front and rear pads or should I just do the worn out rears? Can I just get the rotors machined and stick with these or should I consider replacement. I have only had the car for 12K miles and have been very happy with the brake performance.
Don't know too much about brakes but I do plan to keep the car for several years and just want to do the necessary maintenance when it is needed.
Thanks.

If you have a reputable shop that you take your care to, they can measure the rotors and see if they can be turned and reused. If they can't be resurfaced, go with drilled and slotted, you will like them and they look good too. As far as pads go, I like to do all 4 at the same time, just for piece of mind.
