Unhappy please help replace brake problem

I just changed my 2000 gs300 brake fluid today by taking all brake fluids off at all 4 calipers , I unscrewed the caliper so the brake fluids can drain and I did for all the wheels. Then I filled new brake fluids now the brake won't work. I drove around to test how the brake but it only brakes if I pushed it several times.

Please help I can't drive anywhere because brake don't work

I think you just don't drain the brake system, you need to bleed them.

Ahhh!! Don't tell me you completely drained the brake fluid!!

From what it sounds like, you unscrewed all of the drain plugs on the calipers and let all the fluid drain out!?!
If you did this then you are in some seroius trouble.

When you bleed brakes, you only do one caliper at a time and you never let the brake fluid reservoir run dry. Brake fluid is not compressible, while air is very compressible. If you get any air in the brake system, the braking power will be severely reduced or none at all. Draining it completely and then refilling it will leave huge pockets of air in the brake system.

I think your best bet is to take it to the Lexus dealer or some brake specialty shop to get your brake system fixed. If you don't want to take it to a shop to get a the brake system rebled, you can try to do it yourself. Unscrew one drainplug at a time and make sure the reserivor does not run dry!

Good luck!!

Here's a link.... how to bleed brakes

You need to get a buddy to help you, and a big jug of brake fuid. Do one wheel at a time starting at the back right (furthest away from the master cylinder). Fill the master with fluid.

Pump the brakes until tight.
Then open the rear bleeder and let the air out (and the fluid that will spit out).
Close the bleeder, then tell your assistant to let up off the brake pedal.

Repeat.

You'll have to do the exact same thing for all four wheels. Back right, then back left, then front right, and front left last.
If I were you, after I got it working I'd take it in and have a qualified tech verify that it works correctly.

Also, if you don't bleed it and decide to take it in, think about towing it in. The way your brakes are now they could fail completely in an instant.

Once again a prime example of "if you don't know what you're doing, pay somebody that does!"

It's cheaper and safer!

At least study up and do some research before you go and mess up your ride.

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. Good thing you didn't get out on the road and hurt yourself. Good luck!

You'll know when the air is gone because... well... no more air will spit out.

As for hoe many times... I would be you'll be bleeding your brakes for a couple hours if you really let all the fluid out of the master cylinder. One thing that concerns me if the master was empty, is that you may have to actually bleed the master itself first. May not have to though.

I'm not familiar enough with Lexus brakes specificaly, so hopefully someone else chimes in with the technical aspects. I will say you may have caused some big issues with whats been done. You can try bleeding it again, but I'm putting money that you'll be at the dealership tomorrow. You haven't damaged anything, it's just that it takes a special technique to bleed brakes, and you broke the cardinal rule. It may be best to let a pro straighten it out for you.

Good luck, hope it all works out.

Yes, I think that is the best course of action if you have not worked with braking systems before. The dealer or a good brake shop will have a machine that bleeds the brakes automatically not to mention quickly. Also, in our cars there is the ABS mechanism that retains some brake fluid. That has to be cycled by a computer linked up to the car. Only the dealer or a shop will have that tool.

Good luck with your car!
I'm sorry to hear about your problems. Next time you attempt something on the car thay you're unsure of, you should ask here first. We are all happy to give you suggestions.

just take it to the dealer or any local mechanic shop should do fine. since you don't know why you have no brakes, you shouldn't attempt to do anything further. your brakes probably have way too much air in them now, so PLEASE don't attempt to fix anything at this point.

Good advice, not sure how you managed to test drive it but don't try your luck again, it sounds like you are in over your head, have it towed.
