Default Steering wheel shudder.

I've had this problem for a while. I put rims on and have had a shudder ever since. I lowered the car at the same time. My wheels are supposedly hub centric and don't need rings. I don't know if that is true. I think it may be the ball joints. Could that cause the head shake? It used to only shudder at 65-70 mph. Now it shudders at any speed over 60 and now i can lock up the front brakes when braking hard. Anyone got any suggestions? Anyone in Illinois know a good shop in the chicago land area?

It may just be your wheel balancing. If the job was not done right, it will cause your steering wheel to do a dance. Sometimes the stick-on weights fall off too, and that causes it. Fancier lower-profile wheels are more prone to being out of balance, so you need to make sure it's done right and eliminate that, before moving on to more complicated solutions.

The steering wheel "shakes" are very common for these cars. If it only happens at speeds above 55-65mph, then it's most likey balancing. If it only happens at a speed range between 55 and 65mph, then it could be the bushings. Mine has had the 55 -65 shakes since I first bought it, I'm hoping the new Daizen bushings are the cure for this.
