I just ordered my tires finally, 245-35-20 Nitto 555 and I am going to lower it in the next few weeks with the H&R/Bilstein combo. I was wondering, when I have the car aligned with the 20s, will I have a problem when I switch back to the 225-55-16 rim and tire for the winter? The height of the car will be different if that matters? What do you all think...

Thanks,

Mike

Alignment is not affected by the tire size (within reason).

Your particular case shouldn't have any problems.

Tire size doesn't affect alignment too much. But lowering your car will definitely throw off your camber. After lowering, immediately get the car aligned; your tires will thank you for it.

i have had 19in lowenharts with pzero for like 3years now on my gs300 and ive gone through like 5sets of tires already. i dont know about your case, but with me, the inside of my tire wore out every couple of months and i wouldnt even know because you cant even see it unless you look at the inside of the wheel. then i went to go do alignment and some camber adjustment thing and does help. i spent 190$ to do that at a local alignment shop.

If you lower your car much more than 1.5", you'll probably have to get a camber kit. Stock camber adjusters will only go so far. If you're wearing out the insides of your tires (5 sets in 3 years); then your wheels are way toed in. GET THE CAMBER ADJUSTERS; Eibach makes a camber kit for the GS.

Default Eibach Allignment Kit?

David gs400,

http://eibach.com/eps-application-look-up.htm
I can't find an allignment kit for the New Gen GS.
2000 gs4
They only seem to make one for the Older body style.
If you know the part number or where you can purchase this item please post the info.
Thanks
Alex

If your car is dropped less than 2", you should be able to align it quite easily with the factory hardware. If not, either your car is bent or someone is pulling your leg.

With a 1.5" drop, it won't even throw much off by more than .75 degree or so, which isn't really that bad as is.

so after installing the L-tuned suspension kit, is it even necessary to do a wheel alignment since it is only about a 1 inch drop?

Thumbs up

To answer your question. YES. My boys out at Jotech, Discount, and Firestone, (the ones who know what their doing) all suggest it for multiple reasons. The biggest reason in my book is tire wear and the straightness of your car's steering! If you can't roll @ 70 or so on the highway and your GS practically rides on rails while barely holding a finger on it (or none!) then you know what you're missing! After getting word a couple of years ago on allignment, balancing & rotation on a regular basis after lowering my Supercharged COBRA, after going through 2 sets of high $$$ rubber, this was advise I can attest to. My current GS4 tires gets alligned, balanced, & rotated @ every oil change and I got to tell you, as shitty as the roads are and as fast I roll on a regular basis, my tire life and ride quality are both extremely exceptional!
