Living in TX?
If you have TX plates you need to have a front plate. If its from out of state you dont. But you might get pulled over every now and then so the cops can harass you but you wont get a ticket or anything
my car has been on the road for 6 years with no plate on it. i have never been pulled over in it and i drive crazy. they tend to over look luxury cars here in the dfw. i have never had aprob. even at inspection time.
welcome home

yep for the most part they hardly pull luxury cars over for no front plate but it can happen especially if u mod ur car. i already had my front pre-drilled and i hate it i plan to repaint the car and fill those nasty holes in. i believe u can search in the GS sections for "front plate mount" and you'll find a thread where i believe rominl did a diy using some brackets he bought from homedepot.
oh welcome to texas
so where are u located?

I have never run a front plate, and I have only been pulled once in four years. My understanding is that it is an excuse to pull you over, but if the missing tag is the only offence, it is not ticketable. However, if you were speeding, have no insurance, etc. they can tack the plate offence on. Bottom line is if you want to run without the front plate to keep that Lex clean looking, keep your nose clean and all docs in order so that they have nothing to do if they pull you over but say "You should get a front plate"

When I firsted moved to Texas (from Kansas), I got pulled over once (when I still had my Kansas license). The cop said, "oh, sorry. I didn't realize you had a Kansas plate" and then he let me go. Since I've had my Texas plate (1 year now), I haven't been pulled over. I really don't want to drill any holes in my front bumper.
no front plate here, and you can see how long I have been running with out it at the left when you see when I joined. I have never gotten a ticket for it, infact, I have never gotten a moving violation in the SC yet *KNOCKING ON WOOD*
trulux, you've had the most hassle about a front plate that I have ever heard of. Sure you weren't doing anything else illegal??
I've always thought that if the cops started giving crap/hassle/tickets over it, I would install a tag on a bracket attached to an electrically activated servo. The tag would fold up under the bumper, and with a switch on the dash, swing down and become visible from the front. This way if a cop ever pulled you, he would be behind you when you stop, and you just hit the switch. When he says "you have no tag" You say "really, did it fall off? Lets go have a look, officer. Well, look, there it is!" Since there are no holes in my front bumper and most cops know very little about cars, they won't know thats not the factory location anyway. Not that there is a problem with not running them in the factory location, as many modified pickups with rolled rear pans do not have them in a factory bracket either.
