Haha...I am sure that a good number of us automatically assume that everyone knows about this stuff....anyway, my suggestion is to turn on ESPN (or whatever other sports channel has car races scheduled for that weekend...or motorcycles, etc...) and watch the qualifying event. The race car driver with the fastest time during the qualifier gets the "Pole Position" for the actual race (hence...the first spot in the first row).

And as PHML stated, this is directly related to the number of posts that you contribute to CL (that little number below your logon name and CL designated level name...or for you specifically..."Pole Position"). The higher the number of posts you contribute the higher status level you obtain...thus providing a simple measure to other members of both your status in the community and your level of contribution and trust (though this is really a very simple measure and doesn't actually mean that everyone will trust your advice solely based on status).
