Thoughts/Questions About Layout
First - nice job on adding the CT and LFA forums
At the same time, I have a few comments and questions about the layout... for what they are worth to anyone.
When the main page was redesigned a while ago, I was one of the people who were rather puzzled about the layout. Conventional wisdom would have you believe that it should be sorted in terms of model and price like how other forums go from 1 Series to 7 Series, or GLK Class to GL Class. If I recall correctly, the explanation for our layout was that it went from sporty sedans/coupes to luxurious sedans, then SUVs. I also remember forum activity being a significant part of the rationale.
That said, I'm sort of puzzled if that is still the case with the additions of the CT and LFA. Lexus has been marketing the CT as a sporty hybrid/hatch and it even has an F Sport model but is placed with the "luxury" class? Seems sort of backwards.
Now that we have the LS Sport, you could make a case for that being ranked with the sporty cars as well. Similarly, while the first gen SC was sporty, the second gen is anything but, so why is it listed with "sporty" cars?
I know that anyone could make a case for these things to be ranked any number of ways (FWD, RWD, Performance, Price, Sales, etc) but it seems like the most obvious way to do things would be in terms of class and price. Not to mention that the lineup is always changing and evolving so what is sporty vs what is luxurious isn't necessarily constant. Something like...
CT
IS
HS
ES
GS
LS
SC
LFA
RX
GX
LX
Prototypes
Just me, but that seems to be the obvious answer. The mods/admins probably have a reason for doing it the way that it is.
Also, some of the forums include generations while others just include models. For example, the GS forum is divided into generations but the LS forum goes by 400, 430, 460/600. The LS 400 was a three generation car that kept the same name, obviously. Any plan to be consistent with these?
None the less, thanks for staying current and responding to new models with new forums...even if the organization outwardly seems a bit haphazard

P.S. the LFA forum icon is the 2005 concept, not the production car.

We order by vehicle size and general Lexus lineup ranking within:
1) sport-oriented
2) luxury-oriented and
3) LUV size for the LUVs
As you mention above, this forum ranking also allows our most active model forums to be located at the top of the forums page - that's important for ease of use for the bulk of the member population. The CT while 'sporty' is not really a sport model other than Lexus marketing it as such.
At some point we'll change the descriptions of the other model sub-forums to be consistent with the generational appproach, but the 'legacy' forums such as ES300, LS400 have multiple generations bundled into single forums that are not easily separated without hundreds of hours of work.
Yes, we're aware of the LF-A image and have plans to replace it.
The moderator team has extensive conversations about this topic and I'd like to constrain this discussion to their input please; thanks for your ideas though!
Look for more improvements to the forum features, front page and a graphic facelift to come!
