Default Adding a pic

Apparently it's very easy to include a graphics file in an append because I see so many, but how is it done?

I've entered a valid path to a JPG file in the Attach file box, but nothing appeared in my append.

I also clicked the IMG button above the message box, but because the resulting text box included "http", I assumed it wanted a URL. I also don't understand the relationship between inserting an image and the command to "Enter the text to be formatted"

1nice,

When you say 'append' I assume you're talking about adding an attached file (graphics or otherwise) to the end of the post you're making.

1) for an attachment e.g. "Attach File" at the bottom, you're uploading the picture to Clublexus. Don't try to type in the path to the file you're uploading, use the browse button to navigate to and select it. Make sure the file is a generic graphics type like jpg or gif AND it's less than 102K in size. You'll get an error message if your picture is too big.

2) when you use the IMG link, you're actually pointing to a picture stored somewhere else (not uploading). The phrase 'text to be formatted' is a bit confusing, but all it does is place the URL you type inside little vB brackets to interpret when displaying. One key piece here - don't point to a .com, you need to point to the http address of the actual graphics file (ending in .JPG). You can right click on almost any graphics file and look at the properties to see the format I'm talking about.

Hope this helps.

Dave ...
Thanks for the response.

Actually, by "append" I mean any message entry in a forum; it may or may not include a graphic. But you understood me anyway

Let's see if I can insert a graphic here using the Attach method and using the Browse button to navigate to the JPG (55K) ...

Well, that didn't work.

I used the Browse button in the Attach file section to get to the JPG. The path appeared in the text box, but the pic never showed up.

Here are my settings ...
vB Code Enhanced Mode is on.

Under Options everything is checked but the Disable Smilies box.

Under Forum Rules, everything is ON except HTML code. If HTML code is supposed to be ON for this to work, please direct me to the place where I turn it on - I can't seem to find anything that refers to it.

Thanks for your patience.

Ed,

Email me your .jpg file and I'll try to attach it. That way we can eliminate the picture as the culprit and focus on settings.

OK, so its not the pictures you're uploading.

Thought # 1:

WHen you clicked the browse button and located your file. Did you highlight the picture to upload, then click the 'Open' button? After you do that, the path and filename should be populated in the "attach file:' section just below the post area.

Well, the path did appear in the Attach file text box, but I did NOT check to see if the path was complete (it didn't fit in the box) and it will not allow me to look at the full path.

I'll stick the pic in a place which requires a short path string and try again.

If the pic appears this time, I know what the problem is.

Dave ...

You may want to stick this information in your bag of tricks.

Whenever I attached a JPG, I clicked the Preview Reply button to see if the image was there. It never was, so I thought perhaps the preview does not show attached files and sent the append anyway.
Well, what the Preview button does is empty the Attach file text box!

Thanks much for your help.

Ethan - looks like there might be an error with the way the 'preview' feature works (clears out field when it shouldn't)?
