I love this one!!

I actually saw the"new logo" a few days ago.Firefox uses markers for bookmarks so thats where it was showing up.Didnt pay it much attention other than thinking..hmmm thats strange

I'm no artist, but maybe highlighting the C and L in the name rather than duplicating the letters is better?

Enigma354's sample with the gold and silver is very classy....all the other suggestions are so much better than what was chosen....the orange color and the fonts used are amateurish in my opinion.

I say if it ain't broke why fix it. I kinda like the original CL logo. Just my opinion.

A variation.

Not quite as classy as enigma's but I like the concept. I'm sure he could make it look purty...

there are ways around it.... here's something i whipped up quickly...

I have done corporate identities in the past.
Copyright and trademark issues can be finessed...

Sorry, let's move away from trying to work our way around the exact rule of law (as you did with that one). Unfortunately, this isn't "Coming to America" with McDowells and McDonalds

I liked GSoup's example a lot, and what could be done with it...but sadly even though it works around quite ingeniously, DaveGS4 is clear it can't.

Here are some variations of the ideas you guys suggested...I too think silver and gold-like colors are very appropriate for a ClubLexus forums, after all this is a classy place...
