Default 2005 ES300 wipers won't retract/park

Happened last winter. There was some ice on the windshield and the wipers broke free without a problem. Since then they won't retract below the hood. There doesn't seem to be a fuse that controls this that I can find. Other than not parking the wipers function normally. All other systems seem to be OK so I'm thinking it's not an electrical / fuse problem. Anybody ever see this?

TIA

Crap, It's a ES330, not a 300.

If it was fighting against ice, the indexing may have been lost. I would first try removing them and re-positioning them.

Our was like this when we got it (I don't know the cause). Later I removed them and reset them a few teeth lower on the external spline so they came to rest below the hood line.

Those wipers have a winter and summer position. In the. Winter you can push them up forcefully parallel to the window. One at a time and it will stay parked about 2” above their normal parking position. In the summer you forcefully push them down. Again parallel to the window.

Point being is that they may have ended up in the winter position.

the exact procedure is explained in the owner’s manual.

Does anyone have a picture of them in the winter and summer positions?

Please don't take this the wrong way but if you search CL or Google your question there is a plethora of information.

Here's an old thread about it, with pictures:

Huh, I never knew this. Maybe ours were in the winter and then I manually re-set them. I'll have to check that out next week when I do some other work (new lower a-arm front left - whoo hoo - what a PITA job. I already did the right at least). Stone me, I thought I knew most tricks on this car but this is so simple and I never knew...

Ok winter position looks obviously out of place! I'm guessing these cars come in summer position from the dealership.
