Wireless Apple Carplay on a 2007 IS?
i think the following is doable for a little over $1,000.00
Anyone here try anything like this?
Purchase and install the Metra 99-8163 Dashboard replacement ($250.00). This moves all the climate controls to a new small 4 LCD to the top part of the dash unit leaving a Double Din 7 spot (Part of this Metra Dash replacement ) from the middle down to the bottom of the new dash unit.
Purchase the Alpine ILX-107 ($700.00) and a iDatalink Meastro module ( for the steering wheel controls) and install the ILX in the double Din spot Within the Metra Dash replacement The Metra mentioned something about steering wheel controls so it may already some sort of meastro like module.
How was your experience ? Do the up and down controls on the steering wheel allow for navagtion on the ILX display?
Google the Metra 99-8163 and the ILX-109 if you dont know what I am referring to and you are similiarly interested.

Wow, that is a nice looking head unit!! I looked it up right now and, unfortunately it does not do Apple Carplay. As suggested by the name, you have to be in the android eco-system and download android apps. If I was an Android user, I would seriously consider it!!

This is similar to the one that I have in my ford focus. There is only 1 company out of China that makes these. You can get a car play module that plugs into one of the 2 USB ports on the back of the radio and install the app that comes along with it. It works great and I still get to use the other functions. When you plug in your phone it will automatically launch the car play app called "AutoKit"
