Default Specific Square setup offset (18") fit question

Hi guys, I know the preferred/safe square setup is the Enkei PF01 18x9.5 45mm offset all around. Several have also managed to fit 18x9.5 rims with 40mm offset. All of these with 275/35/18 tires.

My question is, how close is the 18x9.5 40mm offset to the outside? I am at stock height with stock suspension and am looking at a local deal of the Enkei GTC01RR that is 18x9.5 but with a 38mm offset. I plan on pairing this with either the Hankook RS4 or Bridgestone RE71R tires in 275/35/18 all around. With the offset, I should be safe as far as suspension/in-board contact but is that 2 mm going to make me rub the fenders/tabs?

It's only 2mm but just thought I'd ask.

Thanks!

Can't help but I'm interested in the outcome as I looking for an 18" square track setup as well. Since you are in Ontario as well could you pm me what company you went with and pricing too, thanks.

Okay so it turns out it was a typo. Seller meant a 35mm offset which I think is too aggressive and will require fender mods. Going to pass on this.

Mrfurlly, I'll send you a PM.

Thanks!

19x9.5 w/38mm offset here, 265/30/19 all around. Rears were shaved, and it sits flush.
I'd suggest getting a ruler and balance to accurately measure how much room you have to play with. Measure from the sidewall of your tire.

I don't know about the Hankook RS4s, but the Bridgestone RE71Rs are significantly wider than a typical 275mm tire in the 275/35R18 size. I am running 18x9.5 +45 all around and I rub on the rears under hard corning even after rolling the rears...it isn't bad though and I'm lowered on coilovers. If I shaved the rears it would probably be okay. If you are at stock height it might be ok with +38mm offset, but our cars like conservative offsets. I would stick with 18x9.5 +45 to give you a little more wiggle room with fitment. That's just me though.

The attached pic shows how much wider the 275/35R18 RE-71R is vs a 275/30R19 MPSS.

Thanks guys. I think I will get the PF01 with the more conservative 45mm offset to be safe. Trying to achieve the most conservative aggressive setup I can.

Would this set up also work well for a set of winter tires? Or do I want to go narrower if occasional snow driving?

You could easily mount a squared 255/40R18 winter setup on 18x9.5 wheels. I think a lot of people do 225mm winter tires on all 4 corners, but I don't think 255mm would be too wide. I don't see a reason to go 275mm for winter tires though.
