2003 es300 battery dead cant get in trunk!
Hi,
I didnt crank up for 4 days, its been hot and battery is 3 years old. The car is dead, key fob wont work etc..... no problem i have a portable car jumper in the trunk that works great. The problem is the car has no power so the trunk button doesn't work...i went through the middle in back seat with a pole pulled the charger to me the problem is its too wide to meet clearance. Anyway i can open trunk without calling for a tow? I recall in 7 years with car the battery dying but never where the trunk and alarm were dead.
Thanks

Thanks for the replies.
PFB, i dont know anyone here to give me a jump but in a couple of days my friend could.
will it be harder to charge (that'll be 6 days)? Could sitting this long kill an aging battery? Thanks
Crwys, that's the same thing i said. For 7 yrs with this car i dont recall ever missing not having key hole in trunk. Dont think i ever thought about it til today. I always disliked the seat not folding down....the charge is too wide by 2inches.

Lol, I hate this when I want to get parts out of the trunk of a 3ES at the Pick-n-pull. I bring a Li-ion jump pack to give it just enough juice to activate the latch. 'Course, most of the time the employees remove the battery by chopping the harness instead of unbolting the terminals, so...

You can open the trunk of an 03 ES300 with no battery at all
Greeting:
If you reach around through the locking hatch behind the rear armrest, there is a mechanical release to open the trunk. It's described in the owners manual.
Good luck,

Vic thanks so much! I'll try in the morning. I always wondered what is was....i messed with it for 30 minutes 1 time trying to get the seat to fold down....dont know why i never thought to download manual.
Btw, your car looks absolutely amazing! We have the same color my factory wheels and headlights have just about had it. Your pic inspires me to get a full detail soon as i get things together.
Thanks

Hi Idream08,
Thanks for the kind words about my car. I did the headlights myself (being 73 and retired I have the time for such things) by sanding with three grades of paper followed by a few coats of UV proof clear coat. That was two years ago and they're looking a little yellow so I may do it again. It made a big difference in night driving for me. My wheels have some scratches and I'd love to have them repainted. If someone has a good technique which doesn't require removal of the tires, I'd love to hear about it.

Nice!
There's a few youtube tutorials where people have painted wheels without removing the tires. Most cover the tires, rotors, etc..I never have much luck cutting corners but I'm not so good doing any diy, lol. I googled "painting wheels without removing the tires" and then went to videos. Looks like a couple used plasti dip and peel off which seem to peel off excess pretty easy.....i used dupli- color and was initially impressed but i didn't follow all the proper procedures....so after a week they became a magnet for dust. I think not thoroughly sanding and uneven coats is where i went wrong....so i definitely cant recommend not removing the tires from the car. When the wind started to slightly blow my even coats began to drip, i began to wipe. The wheels looked much cleaner for a week or 2. Again i blame my procedure and not the product. Thanks again!
