Jump starting 08 RX350 with a dead battery
I am trying to jump start my 2008 RX350. The car has been sitting for several months without starting. It has a brand new battery. Here are my steps and results:
1. I connect the jumper – red to red, black to black
2. I use the remote to lock and unlock the door to sync the key and car security system
3. The security light blinking, horn working, inside lights working, radio comes on
4. I crank the key to start the car
5. Car starts, but then it turns off again immediately
6. Then all the power is off again – no lights, no horn, security light is off
7. I wait for a while, even days to try again. Same result
Could it be that the engine immobilizer is causing the engine to cut off? I thought locking and unlocking the door will reset the engine immobilizer and security systems.
Any advice?

Instead of jumping, charge the battery in the RX to see if it holds a charge.
