2014 IS250 Fsport engine into 2007 IS250
Hello everyone, first post here and after much research I have a question I was hoping to get some assistance with. I recently purchased a 2007 IS250 (120,000 miles), and sure enough after almost a year, the dreaded start up rattle. I have sourced an engine out of a 2014 IS250 F sport and want to swap it into my car. Im mechanically capable of doing the job but wanted to run it by the forum to make sure there arent any different or updated sensors, or difference in engine design before I go ahead and order the new engine

Awesome, thanks for the quick responses. On a side note, is the 2014 4GR likely to have the start up rattle? I've been trying, with no luck, to find a solid answer about what year they had revised the cam phasers from the factory..

The intake cam gears were updated several times, I don't think any models produced after 04/2008 typically experience much trouble. The newest part number available started being used in 07/2012.
The exhaust cam gears were updated in 03/2006 and are still the same, the startup rattle issue is related to the intake cam gears.
In conclusion, any engine you get produced after 04/2008 should be fine. Before that it may or may not have had the gears replaced, so it would be a gamble. I never had any issue with the 4GR in my 2011, though I swapped it out at 60,000 miles for the 2GR, so...

Nice, thanks for your help Jeff. I saw your build thread and your car is BOSS 👍👍, much props on your successful 2GR swap.
Now I might consider it on mine if its just a base engine swap and keep my drivetrain as I dont have much patience for the electrical side of things lol

Main thing for me is the time. I figured the cam gears and motor swap cost around the same. One upside on swapping the engine is the lower mileage unit I have sourced.
