Question for you LS guys. How do you turn on the inner lens? When using High and Low beam they share the same outer lens. I've read several threads that say US spec ones don't function because they are 'dumbed down' compared to European versions. The hardware seems to be there, but missing the AHS technology (vs our IHS)? On the Lexus website this LS F-Sport has both on. So whats the skinny? Anyone able to confirm or deny the functionality of the inner lens? Thanks!

I would guess maybe in different countries, with different laws, could allow them to come on, like maybe simultaneous high/low beams?

That's the answer I've settled on thus far. The Euro spec LS's with Adaptive Highbeam System (AHS) will allow for low and highbeams to be on simultaneously and will shield oncoming drivers by splitting the light direction. Our US spec Intelligent Highbeam System simply switches from high to low, because US law requires two dedicated sets of lights. DOT needs to revisit and update our ancient laws.
Correct on the dummy light being approved for the EU only and useless here. I would love to see a hack to have them as fog/driving lights as the LED fogs on mine don't light up much.

It does indeed but you bring up a good point, if you could somehow look at the housing to see if the projector just needs a bulb and ballast you could run it independently like you would installing retrofits in factory housings except the benefit here is the projectors are there.
Oooooohhh even better you could wire them up as "demon eyes" or alternate colored DRLs! Damn! I should've did more digging when I upgraded my lights last month!
I doubt there would be any bulbs or ballasts but thats just my guess. They're good at pinching pennies and it seems silly to add them in car that are defeated.

To date I haven't seen anyone utilize that lens and would love to see someone attempt to do so whether it be to activate the light, create a demon eye or DRL. Had this thread been created before I did my bulb exchange I might've done some more research myself.
So if anyone has utilized this lens please feel free to share.

On vehicles with three lenses like my 460L with the LED headlight package (and 600hLs), the outer two lenses light up for low and high beams. In a quick check, I could not tell whether the high beam causes the outermost lens to get brighter or the middle lens. The innermost (3rd) lens does not illuminate, and in my car acts as the infra-red illuminator for the pedestrian detection system. I believe in European and Japanese models, this lens functions both as a visible light and an IR light source.

The dummy light is the basis of the adaptive headlight system that is not available on US models. In US cars with two lenses, the inner lens is dummy. In those with three, the innermost lens is dummy in the sense it does not have a standard bulb, just the IR bulb for night view and pedestrian detection. There is more info on the following thread.
