The NY Auto show is sadly a shell of it used to be during the pre-Covid days and when it was truly a meaningful event with Concept cars and new model reveals. It’s even much smaller compared to the past few years. Most brands are missing like Lexus, Honda, Acura, BMW, MB, Porsche, Range Rover etc. Even Cadillac was missing but Lincoln was there.
The main brands on display were Ford, Chevrolet, Toyota, Subaru, Nissan and the Korean brands really represented a huge part of the space with Kia, Hyundai and Genesis. Stellantis was also there featuring Jeep, Ram, Dodge and even Fiat and Alfa lol
If you are a fan of trucks, rugged SUVs and Mustangs and Corvettes then this year’s show was for you. Otherwise nothing much to see. Sung Kang was there also promoting his new movie and lower level featured bunch of 90s JDM cars.
After sitting in various basic cars - to me the Camry seemed to be the best value at $37-38k for XLE i think it was. I also like the new Rogue interior although the exterior is not that exciting.
Sadly I don’t forsee the show lasting much longer which is a shame. I think it’s a worthy expense for manufacturers to make and connect with potential consumers and to generate passion in young kids. Right now most of the products are literally designed as a refrigerator while they are OK on the surface - really nothing much sets them apart.
I know everyone says things were better in the past but i think we can all conclude that the Auto Show was definitely better before - and this goes to all the other great shows that once existed like Detroit, LA, Geneva, Paris and Tokyo etc.
Some of the highlights:
- Mustang GTD which is really impressive in person
- Mustang Dark Horse SC
- Corvette GrandSport looks amazing. They also had ZR1x and Z06 there as well.
- Nissan had a nice display for the Z. The new Nismo Z manual was there which I really liked! Such a good looking car and interior has nice layout / seating position like a 911.
Great pics. Thanks for posting. The Chicago Auto Show is just a shell of what it used to be too (no surprise). I haven't been to it in years, but the show used to occupy two huge halls and this year it occupied only one with many brands not represented.

My dad taking us a as kid really sparked my interest in cars. i remember taking the train and walking for ages seeing all the cool cars at the show. Sadly the feedback I heard was similar. It continues to get smaller and meh.
Most of these shows have the same line of thinking and are not thinking outside the box. They end up with dud after dud nationwide.
The other issue is while SUVs are the majority of sales, they do not draw kids and crowds to an auto show.
It is such a shame that so many manufacturers don't participate in shows anymore...
The reasons why are obvious. First, we live in the Great Automotive Age of Bean-Counters.
Second, many of those who most regularly went to these shows (people like me), either are starting to die off or don't have the strong, lithe bodies any more to be able to stand on one's feet for hours. That's why, the last few times I went to the D.C. show, fortunately with free-tickets, I would have to go three or four times, and spend just a few hours there each day, taking frequent rest-breaks and sitting down where possible. Of course, I also spent a lot of time sitting in drivers' seats in the vehicles themselves.

True, but with social media and influencers, the visual and audio component of an autoshow is not as big as it was in years past. The only thing left that cannot be replicated is the tactile sensory experience.
Agree re the Scout, first thing I thought of. The rims, I guess it's a pass for me. While I kind of like the design (kind of), the suicide doors are a non-starter for me although it's a creative way to solve the rear seat entry/exit problem they gave themselves.
I was thinking about finding the time to walk over there from my office but I'm not going to try too hard at this point. I feel like I just saw the good ones already, thanks @RNM GS3 .
