2006 GX 470 suspension
About 6-9 months ago I had to have my rear air bags replaced. Recently one of the front struts was found to be leaking and my mechanic replaced both front struts with a Bilstein strut. He removed the electronic component, saying it was not a necessary function with these struts. After the replacement, the front feels very nice, but my rear suspension seems noticeably more stiff, to the point of being jarring. Has anyone had this occur to them? I went along with the Bilsteins because of the cost of replacing with Lexus parts.
I did some belated research and have found some Lexus owners are replacing all the air components with standard shocks, coils, and struts. Would anyone recommend this? My truck is in extremely good condition with a little over 260,000 miles. Has anyone used Strutmasters replacement parts?

I put these on mine November last year: Metal Tech GX470 Rear Coil Conversion Stage 3 (Stock Height)
to replace my rear air bags, I'm happy with the ride. I still have the original shocks all four corners. Are your rear air bags properly inflated to the normal ride height? When mine went flat the ride was jarring like in your description above. When shocks go bad the ride will most times become bouncy.

2006 GX 470 rear suspension
Thanks for responding. This is my first time using this forum. The rear air bags are new, but the rear shocks are what were on the truck when I bought it. I don't know how to determine if the air bags are inflated properly or not. I've never had to deal with it until recently. I'm planning on having my mechanic take a ride with me to see if he feels the same harshness I do.

Yes - use the switch to raise it up, then lower it. The rear (only!) ride height should change with the setting.
If you come out to the vehicle in the morning and it's all the way down, then there's an air leak in the system. Don't delay in getting this fixed as that means the compressor will be running all the time. A worn-out compressor adds $2k to the repair...
