Windshield Replacement and Geico question
So, I live in NYC and noticed a large crack along the passenger side of the windshield (see below) of my 2014 IS350. I've taken my car to 3 different shops and all of them have said that the crack is too large to repair and I had to replace the windshield. I have Geico as my auto insurance, and in the past, when I've had this issue, the only option Geico offered me was a replacement through Safelite, which is crappy glass from what I've read on this forum and Reddit. I also recall that the representative told me that if I specifically requested an OEM windshield (i.e., Toyota part# 5610153800), I would have to pay for it out of pocket. I have yet to call Geico and wanted to do some due diligence. My questions are the following:
1) Has anyone ever gotten Geico to pay for all or part of an OEM windshield, and if so, how did you do so?
2) Does the specific contract feature allow Geico to cover an OEM windshield? If so, I look into adding it to my policy.
3) Does calling Geico to claim a windshield automatically raise your insurance? - I've seen some mixed opinions about this
4) Is it even worth contacting Geico if they will make me pay for the windshield out of pocket anyway? (Depending on the answers to the above 3 questions)
Let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

The only time I’ve ever seen an insurance company put in OEM glass is when the car is new or within one model year. Otherwise you just get what you get with the replacement program.
