Default Windshield Repair

I've been lurking on this forum for a while now and decided to post a question about a crack I noticed on my windshield this week.

The crack is on the outside of the windshield and I guess it's about a foot in length. It's pretty hard to see, but I'm guessing it happened within the last 3 weeks, based on where I've been driving. Guessing some gravel hit it while I was driving on a newly paved road. It's very difficult to feel it when I run my finger across it.

Wondering if I could get some advice on whether I should have the windshield repaired or just leave it. The real question I have is if it is possible to have such a crack repaired? If so, does anybody recommend a shop in the DC area? I don't see replacing it as an option right now, but would it be better to pay the extra amount for an OEM one if it becomes necessary?

The pictures even exaggerate the width of the crack.

Thanks.

IMHO, that windshield is not repairable and should be replaced.

No saving that windshield. Replacement only.

Default windshield

get it replaced I got a $1000 estimate from the local lexus dealer for oem windshield but then realized the dealer does not even do the install. So when their sub called me to make an appointment I just used him and it was $250. he assured me it is the exactly same glass but does not have the lexus paint on the glass. It is also the same auto sensor for turning on the windshield wipers.

So I felt comfortable going this route since it was the guy who does the actual lexus dealer windshield installs even thought it is really just a mobile windshield company.

No problems and the windshield seems fine and no extra noise

Nope - Not the same:

And the glass installer charged my insurance company $170.00 for the install - $150.00 for labor and $20.00 for primer.
