Default RX350 2012 oil change

Hi so I have had my Lexus ES for years but it's a 2007 different than the newer to us 2012 RX350 that we just purchased.

I purchased a service contract through a company that I have used for my other Lexus that has never turned down any claims I have had so I trust them to be a good service contract company.
However they do require an oil change every 5,000 miles even thought on the 2013 Lexus recommends a full synthetic oil change every 10,000 miles
but since my service contract requires it every 5,000 miles , and that's what I will be doing do I still need to get a full synthetic oil change every 5,000 miles or can I do a conventional oil change every 5,000 miles and not worry about screwing anything up in the vehicle.
it is a 2012 RX350 with 61,800 miles the first in-service date was Feb 21st, 2012 so it still has some of the factory warranty left on it
I am thinking the first oil change I will do is going to be the full synthetic oil change since I don't want something to happen while its still under factory warranty don't want them to come back and say I did something wrong but then once the factory warranty is up can I switch to conventional oil changes in this car since I have to do it every 5,000 miles ?
It was originally a candania Vehicle that we purchased for my parents down in Florida 2012 with 61,000 miles AWD top options all of them paid 16,000 for it compared to most of them going for around 23,000 we got a good deal because the owner of the dealership is my fathers best friends son. It's silver in color, not a color i would pick but for my almost 80-year-old father it a color hes ok with i love my Lexus and i got tired of him always driving mini vans i wanted him to have something really nice so figured this is for him

I think that all 0W20 oils are synthetic so you may not have a choice. Lexus requires 0W20 for this engine. A lot of folks here change it every 5,000 miles.

At the very least you will probably get a synthetic blend which would be fine if changing every 5000.

When you open the hood the oil filler cap on the engine will state the oil viscosity, such as 0W20 for the RX.
A quick search at the AutoZone site indicates that all of the 0w20 oils they stock are synthetic. http://www.autozone.com/motor-oil-an...ers=4294960018
If you buy your own oil and filter and take it somewhere to be changed for only a labor charge it is usually much cheaper.

In Canada Mobil 1 0w-20 cost 85 cents per 100 ml, , so to get 6.4 l of oil it would cost $54.40 , priced at Wallyworld website , on sale you can get it a bit cheaper , filter will be around $10 ish , so that $64.40 ish
i phone the local Toyota dealer Their rate is $66.00 with 0w-20 oil , and filter so for me it not worth it to even take anywhere else
the lexus dealer wants $100

In the USA, things are usually cheaper.

I use the Extended Performance Mobil One Synthetic 0W-20 (Gold Label) at around $29 plus tax per 5 quart jug. See below

There is a cheaper Mobil One Synthetic 0W-20 (Silver Label) at around $23 per 5 5quart jug. See below

I get my five quart jug of Mobil 1 on sale at Walmart for $23 and filter at Lexus Parts World for $4.50. Use cl5 for a 10% discount. I take both with an extra quart for the RX to my local Toyota dealer who charges me $22 labor. Mobil 1 has a $12 rebate on the five quart jug.

yeah, when i used to have my Cadillac STS I would take my own oil and filter into the dealer and it would be much cheaper than what the dealer wanted for the same quality oil change.

I live in Utah
the RX is with my dad he lives in FL he won't do that not worth his time he will say something on why he's not going through all the trouble to get it on his own and take it somewhere else but I understand what yall are all saying.
and thank you.

I think he can go to firestone or tire kingdom and probably get it don for like 75 or 80 I think when they used to try and sell me full synthetic oil changes on my ES when I lived down their that's the price they were giving.
