Default My custom air intake resonator delete project

Hello,
I just wanted to post some pics of the set up I just built. It eliminates the two resonator boxes attached to the intake tube from the air box to the throttle body. Overall, I'm very happy with the project and the results. I did this modification because I wanted to have a little better air flow and efficiency. I do not expect high horsepower gains or high mpg increase. What I was looking for was less turbulence in the air overall for smoother power transition and maybe increase in v8 noise when I'm under throttle. That's exactly what I got and I'm very happy with it. Just wanted to share

I wanted to get a louder sound from the intake so I opened it up a bit and then put some mesh there so no major debris would get it.

I also just added the magnaflow 12586 22". Sounds nice, not too loud, just a nice growl and rumble when driving around. I'm picky about sound and I think it's very tasteful. Then on heavy throttle it sounds aggressive.

How is it on the highway? The muffler.

The sound on the highway is no problem at all. It's quiet compared to average tire and wind noise. If I get on the throttle a little to get up a hill you can hear the grumble but very tasteful in my opinion. Videos are tough but I'll try to do one soon.

I'd be interested in hearing the sounds of that new exhaust. Did you finish the exhaust first before the intake or the other way around? A little rumble is good.

Poor quality clips but here is my first attempt at audio and video. I did the intake mods first, then the muffler.

The 4Runner K&N intakes fit the GX and comes with a heat shied/"splash gauard".

Here are some pics of mine and a link to a video of the intake under normal driving conditions for the GX.
