Yes I dont think there is anything wrong with an evolution of the IS that a more modern powertrain wont solve. Even an unlocked ECU and aftermarket supercharger options would be a nice step.

I love my IS350 F-Sport, but recently I drove an M235i and it's such a fantastic car. It has a similar feel to the IS when driving, but the engine and transmission are so much better. Also it doesn't understeer like the IS, which is nice. I wish Lexus would just release a new engine and pair it to a ZF transmission. The ZF 8-speed is better than any other torque converter transmission I've ever driven.

You can get RCFs for $55-60k and it would walk all over a 340 or S4 in that price range. If there was an ISF for around that price, I would trade in my IS350 today. Lexus made some pretty bad moves lately...the GSF is a great car but not $90k great. And frankly, the RC350 should be 150 lbs lighter than the IS350, not 150 lbs heavier. The IS350 is the best car in its class which is the sub $50k entry level sports sedan. The competitors are the ATS, the 328, A4, and the Q50. I laugh when the mags compare it to the much higher priced 340 and S4...kinda a compliment to the 350 to be compared to that class of car.
