Washed it with an Aerolon hydrophilic foam sponge & air dried it with a MetroVac.

Mother's clay bar & quick detailer

Griot's Garage:
Correcting Cream + BOSS MF Correcting Pad
Perfecting Cream + BOSS Perfecting Pad
Finishing Cream + BOSS Finishing Pad
Liquid Gloss Poly Wax + Red Foam Waxing Pad
Best of Show Wax applied and removed by hand

Update: The service records show that the LED strip was installed by the Lexus dealer for the first owner. I had it checked out at my Lexus dealership last Sat. They said the strip was connected to the headlight through some module that had gone bad. They recommended I remove the strip (and the connected module) and estimated 1.5 hours of labor (~$200)! Seems like a lot of time and money to remove something. Any thoughts?

 

Replace the module.

 

or just remove it yourself... cheaper than having them do it.

While I like the idea of the LED strip, I hate how aftermarket equipment (like modules) fail over time.

Back in the day when I used to be into the "modded import scene" I used to install all kinds of lighting-mods on my cars (before I could afford a Lexus and became more "mature")... and the stuff would ALWAYS fail after 3 - 4 months.

Over the last 15 years, I've stuck with OEM equipment, and although it's not as "cool", it certainly doesn't fail quickly.

That being said, I'd try to power up the module to see how it would look. Hopefully the LED module casing hasn't turned yellow...

Separately, I love the front shot of the car. It's beautiful, and the shape of the hood gives it a nice muscular look - much sharper than the L-finesse LS I roll on :-)

Me too, quite frankly. Then again, I've been pushed (unsuccessfully) toward other aftermarket installs that are arguably even more invasive (e.g., when we wanted our LX with DVD, they were pushing an aftermarket install, just to push an in-stock truck), but that's usually done by a third party, so there's the difference I guess.


It shouldn't, especially if it's all plug-and-play with no spliced wires, etc., but still a bit "on the edge", at least based on the standard that some dealers tout for this.

Discerning eyes may notice that the hood is off by a couple of millimeters to the right. I noticed it when buying but didn't think anything of it, and the Lexus PPI did not flag it either. However, my local Lexus SA is sure there was some front work done. He felt that the panel fit on the driver front side was slightly off. Can't be sure what it is. Everything checks out OK, so I hope it is not something that will come back to haunt me.
