thanks everyone. Although it was just under 3 months of searching, I looked at no less than 500 cars online using sites like iSeeCars.com , EveryCarListed.com, CarFax.com, which surprisingly is a very good website to search for cars, especially the filters. CarFax.com lets you search by 1 owner, 2 owner, only personally owned, etc etc. But, I ended up finding this one on AutoTrader.com and it was a private seller. The ad was buried among the premier ads with tons of high res pics but this one had some grainy cell phone pics and I called the seller to confirm the features. And best of all, it was local to me so I could drive it myself and have a private inspector spend 1.5 hours with the car to make sure everything was good to go. Especially the paint and body and it came back super clean.
Out of all of the 500+ cars it seemed I looked at online, this is the ONLY one that had the color combo and options I specifically wanted. I was lucky, no question. I am getting ready to buy my extended warranty tonight and probably hold on to this one for a long time.
I considered 2013 model, but finding one with radar cruise seemed damn near impossible. Especially in white. But then in order to get rear sunshades, you have to get Ultra Luxury which adds the rear HVAC. That eats up a large portion of the trunk. I have another child due in July and I need trunk space now. So, the 2012 allowed me to get the radar cruise, air suspension, luxury package with rear door shades, ML System, Self Parking and upgraded leather but still keep the max sized trunk. The 2013+ no longer provides that flexibility. Plus I saved nearly $15K getting this one instead...I was totally good with that.

Hi CJITTY,
Excellent reasoning to get the 2012 LWB. It is a gorgeous looking vehicle. I really prefer the aggressive side profile of the 2012 models to the slightly rounded profile of the 2013- cars. I was seduced by the additional gadgets in the 2013-models with Lane Keep assist and advanced pre-collision with the forward cameras in addition to Dynamic cruise control. Does yours have blind spot monitoring? So, I plunked down the moolah for a 2014 LWB. You are correct that the trunk is tiny in the 2014 equipped with Ultra Luxury package. I thought it was due to the power rear reclining seat feature on these vehicles, not the rear HVAC. Does your 2012 have power reclining rear seats?
Congrats also on the growing family! My two boys were used to riding in a minivan and were running out of space in my 2012 LS SWB; so I went with the 2014 LWB in February. Minor hiccups but very happy so far. And will be getting my Platinum warranty soon. Would you mind sharing details of your extended warranty? I am thinking of purchasing from Toby Rivers at Shreveport Lexus (8/125K for 3760).
Best wishes,
AC

Well, unfortunately I'm passed 50k miles so I have to go 3rd party. Working a true exclusionary 3/36 bumper to bumper that includes wear and TSBs with CarChex Titanium Care for hopefully under $2650. I know a couple people with CarChex and have a Lexus LS and IS and ALL of their repairs covered with no drama.
