Default Fingering the car, good?

Ok.. Now that i got your attention ( you horny bastard ), what is the finger gap between the fender and the wheels front and back on a stock suspension.. 2 weeks into owning the f and just wondering if previous owner had lowering springs installed.. My springs are black in color and 1 finger gap in front and rear..

My gap was bigger than one finger for sure. Not sure what black lowering springs are out there. Take the wheel off!

I used to be able to fit my whole fist in there before I lowered it.

wow.. your isf must feel very violated.. but getting back to "helga", previous owner also had boxed subs ( which he took off) and suspension lights ( yup, you read it right ) installed.. so i figured maybe he had lowering springs ..

sounds like the previous owner was one of the guys who just lowerd the front. If the rear was dropped it would be tucked slightly.

I don't know about the entire fist, but I do recall when mine was stock, it was about two fingers. Great for other situations (and maybe for those looking to run larger wheels or tires), but to me, a little drop is much better. I know with regards to the MKIV Supra, it was tested that factory ride height provided the best lap times and consistency in cornering, and I wouldn't question the IS F engineers over why they chose this specific ride height. I have taken my car at stock form and with the suspension changes to the same track and I do notice a better handling ride and better lap times with a very slight drop. Being slammed won't provide the best driving dynamics, but there is a slight compromise, especially with cars that want to look nice but still retain much of the performance factors.

Agreed. When I bought mine, the previous owner had lowered both the front and rear, which gave it a slight reverse rake (the rear wheel was tucked into the fenderwell while the front wheel had 1-finger gap). This drove me bonkers (as in my opinion it looked terrible). Fortunately he gave me the stock suspension components in the deal. On the 5th day of ownership, I couldn't take it any longer and swapped the rear springs out for the stock ones. This put the car at the proper stance for my tastes (It appears level to the naked eye, but the rear is 1/8" higher than the front).

What are your thoughts on only doing the front lowering springs?
