Has anyone taken delivery of a 350 luxury model with HUD and had the opportunity to use cruise control yet? I am a serial cruise control operator. One of the pre production you tube videos I saw mentioned that it was rather cumbersome to resume your set speed after braking. It almost appeared that instead of just hitting a resume button, you had to hit a mode button, and then a resume button. If so, seems like a bit of worrisome hunting at pecking at 75 mph. I’ve read the owner’s manual and still can’t tell exactly what the process is or how difficult it is at high speeds.
For anyone that has had the luck to take delivery of one with HUD, is the process as cumbersome as I imagine, or is it fairly seemless?
I have had my 2023 RX Luxury since November. The cruise control is very annoying. Even worse is trying to change radio stations. I just use "Hey Lexus..." for that. I am always changing a setting because of the heated steering wheel. I move my hands to find the warmest spot and it touches a control and throws everything out of whack. I need to adjust the haptic feedback.
My biggest problem is if I have my driving glasses on, I can't read all of the selections/warnings in the HUD. Note: I mean non-polarizing, clear lens, distance prescription lenses.

Reason: To add clarity note.
Does the HUD have to be on to use the cruise control? Is there no other display for cruise except on the windshield? I am considering trading my 2020 ES for RX and on my ES I tried the HUD and found it to be very distracting and never use it.

Cruise information will display on the 9" gauge cluster if you turn off the HUD. My wife wasn't a fan of the HUD either but after a month she now prefers it.
I still can't quite figure out (even from the manual) what the green steering wheel symbol with hands on each side is, why it lights up when the cruise ISN'T on. What is is trying to tell you to do, is it a reminder that you have to be steering the car yourself? And sometimes that green steering wheel symbol disappears, what does that mean? It seems to be part of one of the driver assistance methods (I have everything ON except the lane departure system).

It's the lane keeping assist indicator. It will turn green if it's available. I can't remember it turning green without cruise active though.

I believe, but could be wrong, that the steering wheel turning green (or not) indicates that Proactive Driving Assist is active (or inactive).
Ok I looked at a full video which also showed controls and display without having the HUD installed and it looked normal. If I turn the HUD off will the display be like if HUD was not installed.
I have Lux with the HUD. I got used to the cruise control and HUD circles very quickly. Just a touch activates the controls and your choices instantly show on the HUD. It is a piece of cake and very intuitive for me. I use cruise control all the time with no issues. If you can't see the HUD with sunglasses on, pick up some cheap non-polarized for use in the car. Problem solved!

It’s not clear what you think is screwed up. This car has a steep learning curve, but it’s pretty user friendly once you take the time to learn it.

Sorry about the rant. There are people that like using the HUD and ones that don't. I have a 2020 ES300h UL now that has the HUD and tried my best to like it but ended up turning it off as it was distracting and my wife could not stand it. This has nothing to do with a learning curve as it doesn't look difficult at all to see a picture on the windshield and press the buttons. An example of one thing I would not like is without the HUD you press 1 button to cancel cruise and with HUD there are 2 steps. Seeing the video of both with and without HUD I would prefer to have the display on the instrument cluster without the HUD and don't know if that is the case if I just turn HUD off. A company is supposed to build on what they have that's worked and not start over from scratch hoping it goes over. There should have been at least a transition period with both and maybe because I don't know how the display looks with HUD turned off it may be ok. Going first of next week to look at car and was told can't drive the hybrid but can regular and of course the 14 inch screen will not be activated but I will be able to see how the display works with the HUD off. This reminds me a little of what Coke did years ago when it tried to change coke as they lost billions before bringing original back. Of course that won't happen here as Lexus has such a loyal following and also being highly reliable. On ES forum I asked if the 2023 had split screen and a reply came no and he traded up from a 2019 and said he never would have traded knowing that. Just another not so good upgrade from Lexus. Manuals nowadays don't really tell you all you need to know especially before you buy. Hope I like the car and thanks to this forum for some helpful insight.
