New Brakes from the dealer
#2
I took my car in for a 30k service and just got quoted $1,036 for front brake pads and front rotors. This was very surprising since I didn’t need brakes or rotors at 30k miles in my 2014 F sport. After the quote I went on EBay and priced front brakes and rotors and found some for $540. Wish I knew a good mechanic.

As for install find any decent shop or brake place like brakemasters and pay them the labor to swap in the parts. Do a brake fluid flush too and you are set for a few years. I had my rotors and pads swapped for $70 an axle if I recall correctly, its cheap since they dont have to spin the rotors if you are simply throwing new ones on there.

I guess this forum is a lot different than the ones I normally frequent, like the V8Buick.com board. I'm mechanically minded and have done more brake jobs than I can count. It generally takes longer to get the car on jack stands and the tires off than it does to swap rotors and pads. I also rotate the tires when I do this on my cars that have symmetrical tires/wheels. I hate writing a check and having to wait for something I'm fully capable of doing myself and knowing it is done to my standards.
I love disc brakes! Very simple compared to the Rube Goldberg devices that pass for drum brakes on older cars.

Haha, I hear ya! Disc brakes are absolutely easier than drum brakes. Especially the newer cars where you can pull the pads out without unbolting the calipers. I remember the days of trying to get all those drum brake levers, springs and stuff to all stay in place while trying to strong arm (with pliers) that last retention spring into that little hole and not have it pop out. Whoever designed the drum brake was nuts....

If it’s still under factory warranty your dealer can get the brakes replaced under warranty by telling Lexus that there’s a known clicking sound along with the squeaking squealing problem. I’m speaking from experience. 😉
