Thanks for the diagram. I tried doing a continuity test with my multimeter set to read resistance from EB1 to the ECU pin 1,2 but it failed. Now I think I had my multimeter connected to the wrong end of the knock sensor connection. Assuming thats where the knock sensor wires terminates than it should be possible to replace the whole wire going from the knock sensor to EB1. I was under the impression the 2002 sc430 had one cable going from the knock sensor to the ecu but that does not appear to be the case. Correct me if I am wrong.

Actually I need to clarify something here. The circled item is where there is a plastic clamp holding the wiring harness loom as it exits the main cable and is NOT EB1. In that picture, EB1 would be hidden by the starter. If you look at the routing diagram, you can make out the pigtail harness as it exits the plastic and goes down to the starter. Just wanted to be as precise as possible here. Good luck.

No. They installed a Y cable between the sensors and the main cable. That's where the EB1 connector comes in.

That means that the circled item is not eb1. eb1 is below the circled connector. See attached image. I notice that for the after market wiring harness that they sell for the sc430 the plug is a 4 pin connector where as what I see from the connection on the circled connector is 3 pin. Do you think that eb1 could possible be a 4 pin connector

Sorry about the double post. Hit back on my phone and wasn't sure I sent it. Do a search on ebay for "Knock sensor plus wire harness" to see the cable. I order one but don't plan on using the supplied knock sensors. Just the Y cable.

I see that too. But not sure what's the deal. Maybe one pin isn't connected. But that would be strange.

Thanks. That makes more sense now. Since I am getting the code for 2 failed sensors it quite possible be the y connector that has failed. In any case I have ordered the harness as well.

I'm going to try later to see if I can pull that cable far enough to expose EB1. Not sure if there is enough play or not.

Just a question. Have you figured out the torque of the various bolts you will be removing/replacing?

Now that you mentioned it. I haven't yet. I believe the 10 nuts that hold down the manifold are 13 ft/lbs.

Default Connector for harness from 2002 SC430

Raven,
I took pictures of the connector for the starter and the knock sensors when I was working on my car in that area:

Well I sure hope that isn't EB1. Because if it is, the split cable harness that I received from ebay for the SC430 is the wrong one because it has four pins. But great pics and Thanks.
