Vibration/TCC Chuggle on Deacceleration Solved
Recently I experienced a vibration on deacceleration from 40 mph. It felt like my brakes were pulsating while braking but I had all pads and rotors replaced last spring. On further road testing, I noticed the vibration/chuggle felt more powertrain related. I remembered the ECM Reset Procedure using the ignition key and the accelerator. I had used this procedure in the pass to correct lazy transmission shifting or a ghost misfire with success but never for a vibration/transmission chuggle on deacceleration. Well it worked! Add this to the list of things that can be corrected with the ECM reset.

I've done several drain and fills on my wife's ES, which has a sealed tranny as well. Once I got the procedure down, it is only slightly more difficult and time consuming than an oil change. I've previewed the procedure for filling the SC's tranny and it looks similar, but one never knows until one tackles it!
I like the idea of replacing the Toyota WS ATF with a top grade, full synthetic. I typically use Amsoil, but a lot of folks on CL swear by Valvoline full synth, so I might give that a try as it is a fraction of the price!
If you want to reset the ECU without losing your seat and stereo settings, perform the following procedure:
1. Get in your car and insert key. (It doesn't matter if you close the door or not.)
2. Turn the key to the on (not start) position.
3. Press the gas pedal to the floor.
4. Hold the pedal to the floor for five seconds, then turn the key back to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
5. Wait 2 minutes.
6. Remove key.
7. Done
Put your right arm in, and you shake it all about.
Do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around, that’s what it’s all about!
Put your left arm in, take your left arm out.
Put your left arm in, and you shake it all about.
Do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around, that’s what it’s all about!
Put your right foot in, take your right foot out.
Put your right foot in, and you shake it all about.
Do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around, that’s what it’s all about!
Put your left foot in, take your left foot out.
Put your left foot in, and you shake it all about.
Do the Hokey and Pokey and you turn yourself around, that’s what it’s all about!
Put your whole self in, take your whole self out.
Put your whole self in, and you shake it all a-bout.
Do the Hokey and Pokey and you turn yourself around, that’s what it’s all about!
Chorus: Do the Hokey Pokey, Do the Hokey Pokey, Do the Hokey Pokey, that’s what it’s all about!
