clicking sound from shifting

Default clicking sound from shifting

i noticed my 2002 sc430 has a clicking sound when I shift from park to reverse or netural or drive. does anyone have the same problem or is it normal? the sound is coming from under the hood and a little from the gear box

Mine is the same year, dont notice that sound.

Find a VERY quite place and put your top and windows down then shift from park to drive, but don't guide the shifter, just pull it down from park to drive.

If you guide it slowly thru the gate past REV and N while moving it left and right with your hand it doesn't make the noise as loud. If you are like me and just pull the shifter and let the "gate" guide it to drive you should hear it. It sounds like a very firm metal on metal tap coming from the tranny.

The first time I heard it on my 2003 it had 100miles and I was in a quite garage - I thought something was wrong, but I have heard the excact same noise in other SCs.
