My twenty-five year old garage door motor finally died. I had new motor installed today and my SC homelink could not be programmed. Now I know about the bridge / repeater. I guess I’m go shopping on Amazon.

Heck, I don’t need homelink. I just downloaded the MyQ app to my phone and , whoa la, it done. I can close and open the garage anywhere, and get instance notification if someone opens it. Like BGW did, I scheduled the garage to be closed at 9pm, so if I ever forget to leave it open, then the app will close it. Gosh, I love the technologies.

To add to the excellent & thorough post above by Cinc04 ... for those using the bridge it is VERY important that you first sync the remote that comes with the bridge (not the remote that came with your opener) ... synch that to your SC430 first, THEN cluck the opener learn button on your ceiling opener and within 30 seconds synch your cars button.

I use the MyQ app with my new garage doors because the new Liftmaster openers use a rolling code. No muss no fuss and like previous responses, I’m notified if and when my doors open. I can open and close them from anywhere and I have a log of their activity. Technology is wonderful!

Easy peazy ... 😉
... As I drive up my driveway I simply reach up to one of three buttons above mirror, push, door opens. No fumbling around for cell phone app, or separate remote clipped on visor ....

Easy, peazy... 😀

Yes, except when your motor die, your SC will not link with your new motor. What will you do? You can pay extra for the bridge, or simply push the button on the Cel phone. I prefer the latter.

Dudes, I have a remote for the garage door sitting near the cigarette lighter. I just push it when within 20meters. Door opens. Not reliant on some app, smapp, or papp.

Whats with all the complications?

My phone is for talking to people. Not downloading a Gomer Pile of stuff that makes me reliant on moby phone connections and the like. You lads amaze me. I thought we bought this vehicle because of its simplicity.

Ahh well. We are all different I suppose.

Well I kept trying til I got my button
above mirror working. With some occasional help from the great drivers on this board EVERYTHING on my '04 works as the day it came off the floor. I guess I'm a nitpicker. Hey Studog.....could you expand your thoughts on the LC500? Am about an inch away from spending more money for a car than any sane person should. Are you not completely thrilled with it? Have driven 3, but all for less than 10 miles. I was impressed......am I missing something?

Ran into same issue a year ago when both of our doors open/close hardware and motors needed replacing after 21 years of use. The new door systems use a different design of transmitters and receivers such that none of our 5 cars' door opening systems or old remotes work with the new openers. New door systems came with 2 openers each so was "light" one opener for which the installer pointed me to the app on a cell phone where it can open/close either of the two doors from thousands of miles away, shows status of each door (open/closed), how long each door has been open or closed, etc. Pretty neat and useful improvement.
