Default Which one would you buy?

Looking at two SC430s, a 2006 with 62,000 miles asking 23,000 and a 2004 with 180,000 miles asking 8,000. I can afford the more expensive one, but of course like the price of the 2004. Both cars are nice for their milage/age.

Tough call. If the 2004 looks close to as good as the 2006 condition wise, has a through service history, and you plan on driving it a lot or modifying it, then I'd say go with the 2004. If you're going to baby it or sell it and move on in a few years, then go with the 2006.

Thanks SeaStories, I'm thinking it would be a garage queen and babied and driven when I'm in SoCal at our other home. So probably under 3,000 miles a year.

I would go with the 06. It has new head and tail lights beside 6-speed trans and better suspension. SC price value is holding so it’s a good investment. I bought my 07 in 2015 with 58k miles for $28k out of the door. If I sale mine now, which I won’t, I probably get break even.

I would go for the 2006 as well.

Check out the service history. You don't want an SC that hasn't been maintained.

I paid $28k for an '07 with 45k miles in August.

We've put over 5k miles on it and are loving every minute of it.

Lots of differences in 06 and up. The headlight turning with the steering is very noticeable. 06 period

Like others said, the 2006 has plenty of improvements…one thing to note, the 2006 still has the older more expensive blue, gold/yellow, white & red TPMS sensors. as far as I know, Toyota/Denso makes them.

also, at some point, used car prices are going to be normal again…
