Today, I had a chance to test my 07SC with TechStream cable firmware Ver 1.41 using Ver 12 software. First I ran the health check. Everything is OK. All ECUs are communicated. TechStream reported a TPMS error codes as it should. Next I went to the customization function setting, the TechStream crashed. Three times. I then replaced the 1.41 cable with my 2.04 cable, then accessed the customization function. Everything went well.
So, if you own an 06+ SC and planning to purchase TechStream, buy a 2.04 firmware version. You will not be able to access the customization with 1.41 version. I use Ver 12 software, version 13 software will crash in health check. I can’t speak for Ver 14 and higher.
When I did a customization on door lock, one function that I did not quite understand.
On the last item, Lock Shift Brake, my section now is “w/o stop lump”. What is it? What happen if I select other function or turn it off ? Anyone care to explain?
I'm clueless on LUMP (some strange typo?), I expect you've already seen all the following info, but providing just in case:
For the 2002 model year I have the following on door lock customization:
5. Locking of doors when shifting from park into another range
When shifting the vehicle from park to another range, the following features can be programmed:
□ When shifting from park to another range, the doors will not lock.
□ When shifting from park to another range, while the brake pedal is PRESSED, all the doors will
lock. (Standard)
□ When shifting from park to another range, the doors will lock when the brake pedal is RELEASED.
That's great insight. I read your post, looked at the screen capture, read a bit in the FSM, looked at the pdf I linked, even mentioned the possibility of a typo, and never once thought of swapping a U for an A. Stop Lamp - think that's a translation issue? I don't see anybody using US English describing conditions like that.

Reason: added question
To everyone who has a 1.4.1 cable that does not work on 2006+, does it show it installed as 1.4.1 ? I purchased a "1.4.1" that installed as 1.4.6 and it connects and works correctly with V15 on my '06 (and my '15 RX350). So you really do not know what you are getting when you buy a cable but it worked out in my case.

I know, there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason about what works and what doesn't. Remember, we are all getting pirated versions of both the cable and the software.

Did you try every functions of the TechStream? Mine crashed when I tried to do customization.
@GmanSC Wondering if you have tried Techstream on TPMS for the 2018 RAV4 in your signature? Sorry for the rambling below, was trying to give a full picture of the boundaries for the issue I found.
A few folks on the IH8MUD forum couldn't get Techstream and some of the EBay/Amazon cables to register new TPMS sensors on 2016+ Land Cruisers or LX570s. I am one of those who had problems.
Two paths were proven to work for TPMS:
1) Continue using Techstream, but replace cheap cable with a VCX Nano dongle.
2) Buy and pay for the use of a Carista OBDII Bluetooth dongle.
Then in testing I found the VCX Nano dongle crashed Techstream in my 2002 SC430 - I'm guessing it isn't able to handle the older OBDII protocol. It fully supports my 2020 Land Cruiser.
Compounding the confusion, the Carista will diagnose the 2002 SC430 and reset codes. But it doesn't support customizations, or SC430 TPMS, as It does for the Land Cruiser.
I actually ended up going with 3 paths. I keep the Carista dongle in my Land Cruiser to help with diagnosing issues when in remote conditions. Techstream for use at home (with cheap cable and VCX Nano).
Back to my original question. Just wondering if the inability of the Ebay/Amazon cable to support the LX570 and Land Cruiser TPMS is unique to those vehicles? Based on the description for number of people with issues, I don't see this being a version of Techstream problem (I have used V12 and currently use V14 Techstream).
In addition to my idle curiosity, the answer may help anybody else having issues with newer Toy/Lex vehicles. I could see myself wondering if I was doing something wrong or if a cable failed - when it may just be vehicle unique.

I did not try every function but Customization worked for everything I changed on my '06 (and my '15 RX350). I also used it for programming a new key. I ran through a number of screens, checked the TPMS voltages, etc, everything seemed to work.
I know, there doesn't seem to be much rhyme or reason about what works and what doesn't. Remember, we are all getting pirated versions of both the cable and the software.
Exactly...what works for some may not work for others. That cable also came with v12, v13 and v14. For various reasons none of those versions either installed correctly on my Win7 computer or if they seemed to, the cable did not connect to my '06.... The v15 was the only version that worked for me.
So in my case trying different Techstream versions was the solution and not switching to a different cable version.
Hello GmanSC,
I owned the SC 08 as well and thinking of getting the TechStream cable. The problem is I do not have any PCs that run Windows 7. Which Windows OS are you running on TechStream Ver 12 software? Is TechStream only supported by Windows 7? Thanks
