Guy, there is a set of physical buttons that control answering, hanging up and even dialing if you have numbers in memory. This buttons are located about 8 o’clock behind the steering wheel. If you’re interested (and want to see how the wrapping turns out), I can drive up and show you.
So, some physical buttons are present. My reason for knowing about them is investigating whether there is a button cluster that could be added to an older unit and possibly allow more inputs to my Android. I have my existing buttons adequately controlling things, but a few more buttons would be nice. Then again, I don't know if my gateway ECU would interpret the phone buttons and to pass on the inputs through my steering wheel button adapter. Something for the back burner...

There are couple button at and behind the steering wheel left side for pick up and hang up phone, voice control and also volume and set control. The voice control unable you to call a number in your phone book. I never tried these function since I don’t use the NAV. For me, the NAV screen is only good for back up camera.

Perfect picts! Those must be the hidden buttons I recall seeing mention of in some thread here. Someone had remarked there were already some switches inside that button module when they took theirs apart. They switches were present but the housing did not include the external plastic bits to activate the switches. Your pict confirms those mystery switches are involved in the bluetooth phone control signaling.
There is more hope for gaining more buttons for the android to see.
Upon reading the above reports that the factory Bluetooth was only for telephone usage, not music, bought one of these SCOSCHE BTFreq Handsfree Car Kit w/ FM Transmitter adapters from Best Buy yesterday for $29.99. Works great. Currently mounted in ashtray cigarette lighter outlet, may move it to inside glove compartment. As I only listen to a few local stations I set one of the preset radio buttons to the blank FM slot this unit plays through. I instantly was able to stream from my Spotify account and will next test Sirius satellite channels via their iPhone ap. If that works I'm now considering skipping installing a $1,000+ upgraded receiver. What remains lacking though would be a rear mounted back up camera. Has anyone kluged together such a system that displays on the now abandoned navigation screen? Current setup

Many of us here at the club have installed the backup camera utilizing the NAV screen using NAVIKS or NAVTOOL for interface. Link to PDF below for installation procedure. Do the search on this subject will yield lots of infos.
I purchased a 2005 SC430 back in November 2020. It has Bluetooth for phone calls and when I connect my iPhone 11 Pro it shows connected successfully however when I make or receive a phone call I cannot hear the other end. But they can hear me. The mic in the car is working and all my speakers work for music no problem. Anyone know the Malfunction and how to fix this?
The 2005 sc430 was the first year to allow for blue tooth phone usage. It was gen 4 i think. I have a 2005 sc430 and in early versions of i phone i used to get a loud sonic boom noise when i would dial. Now with i phone 8 it no longer makes the sonic boom noise. There is also some settings in the hidden screen that let you adjust the volumes of in and out calls. i believe all lexus dealers now have a tech advisers on site.
Have a 2005 as well and I have been through many phones with this car, all Motorolas. Older model Droid - worked fine. Droid Turbo, intermittent, would not pick up calls. Moto X4 - very intermittent and sound to speaker would keep cutting out. Moto G6 - mostly fine. So I am convinced the problem is that the car's BT is pretty old and it needs a phone that has all the backwards compatibility features to function fully with this pretty old version of BT.
It works perfectly with my Android car unit to inject audio directly into the ML amp. I use the ML head unit to control volume, base, fade, etc. Keep that in CD mode so it tells the ML amp to process audio in its better sounding CD mode. The Android replaced the ancient navigation screen and permits modern, wireless Apple Carplay, any Android navigation map, and Torque Pro. I absolutely love my Carlaoer Android (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...r-install.html)
We are gonna leave it alone for a bit. I'm doing a big install in my LS400 1st. But will get to the son's SC430 at some point. By then, he will know if he wants to keep or replace the Nav screen. Right now, he likes it. Loves the outdated tech/pixeled look as nostalgia. I like the interior of the SC. I may end up getting one as well down the road if the right deal pops up.
That is what happened to me. I found a very nice 05 72K on the clock for my son in VA and then 6 months latter when we went to visit and I saw one up close I said I got to get me one of those. 5 months later I had an 06 with 60K on the clock and this was Dec of 2018
