You read it right! Python hunting is important in FL. The government wants you to kill and report as many as you can... they are devastating the Everglades. Wiped out almost all mammal species there and have now turned their appetites on to our Alligators.
As far as bringing them back, you have to kill them on site and then bring them to a FL wildlife center where they can verify and measure the snake for their data. You can fit at least a few in a good size cooler in the trunk.
I’ll be building a Tuna Tower for the roof so the Ls400 should be able to hold 3/4 in the car plus a lookout on the roof. The hunting is done at night with very bright lights mounted on the car. The pythons become iridescent and almost glow at night under bright light so you can find them easier.
Here’s a quick preview:
I had no idea it was so bad and wish you luck building the LS400 “Python Hunter”
I am surprised there are no Python Hunter shows...like the Louisiana alligator hunting shows. https://www.history.com/news/burmese...ida-everglades

Thanks BGW, there are a couple shows out there but I believe they may only be available on YouTube, if I find one I’ll post a link.
If you look up Mike the Python Cowboy on youtube, he’s the top hunter in the state. He agreed to take me and a friend out hunting to make an episode for his and my channel.
The ls400 build is just supposed to be a fun side project. I paid $700 for it last week and I’m betting I’ll get at least $700 worth of fun out of her.

DAMN I never heard of this, sounds crazy. Car looks like something being built for Escape From New York or something. That is pretty cool, do they pay you guys for doing it? Are you going to mount something on the grill like a bull bar or something? What do you do for a suspension or can the standard get the job done? Man I am finding this so fascinating I would watch a well done show on this, not some stupid re-enactment show like that Florida car towing one.
What made you pick this particular vehicle compared to an older Rav4 or Highlander?

I bought it cause I thought a lifted ls400 in mid tires would be awesome lol.
The state pays guys like Mike, The Python Cowboy. Regular guys like me, I think, can collect a little money when you bring the dead snake in but I believe there’s paperwork involved. Personally, I just enjoy cruising the dirt roads in the Everglades at night and it’s a bonus if you get to kill an invasive snake.
The ls400 was just something fun to build/mess around with.
Honestly you could just as easily go python hunting in a stock Honda Civic as long as you have a couple light bars.
LOL. I would love to get that for 4K. I wish CarMax would put an SC up for 4K. Clean Carfax and I would buy the car sight unseen for that price. However that is a pretty nasty tear in the driver's seat, did you do a cost comparison of getting it fixed the price before and after getting it fixed?
Python hunting? LS400 did you mean LX? Seems like things might be a little tight 3/4 guys going out looking for a python, finding it and bringing it back?
An upholstery shop told me 300 to replace the area that was torn. I was nervous about the saddle not matching so I never got the repair. I just lived with it until I sold it. The car had a lot of little dents and dings. I didn't mind it all since it was my DD for 4 years. I am waiting a few years for the LC500 to drop down.
