I could be mistaken, but isn't that the pre-06 deflector? (smaller) It was my understanding 2006+ JDM models had the larger deflector.

63230-24010 discontinued 2002-2005

63230-24011 shows fitting all years

63230-24030 w/cellphone antenna Discontinued

but numbers can change....i believe the physical size was the same but I may be wrong. I never compared them side by side.

they're all interchangeable, but if you look at the amount of material from the top of the mounting hole on the side to the top of the deflector, the 06+ ones (like the one I bought) are much larger.

Vs
Part# 63230-24011

I think 63230-24011 is the same as the USDM one we all have.

I'm guessing 63230-24030 is the one I have? But I can't find anything to corroborate that theory, other than the fact that it has a cell antenna and I haven't come across any others that do.

So is the antenna surfaced mounted or sandwiched?

I believe this may be the original jdm one (up until 05, discontinued now):

It's a rebranded version of ours.

it's mostly surface mounted, there's a little indent in the plexiglass that most of it sits in... however, there is a layer of black that's inside the plexiglass underneath where the antenna sits. So you could definitely remove the antenna, but you'd still have the exact same amount of black where the antenna was.

Looking at the bottom right part of the black area on this pic, you can see where the antenna ends, but there's a shiny black surface. That's inside the plexiglass.

Here are some closer, more detailed pics.

If you open the webpage in Google Chrome, up in the right hand corner you can choose to have Chrome translate the words to English.

Just wanted to update the thread... I tried the UV/peroxide method to get the yellow tint out of the windscreen but it didn't have any effect.

I have an appointment tomorrow to have my windows tinted, so I'm just going to ask them if they can tint 1 side of the deflector too.

yes, unfortunately what translates isn't very helpful.

Here are pics of it after being tinted and mounted.

The tint actually makes you not notice the Antenna.

I'll see how it lasts with the tint. If it starts to peel/bubble then maybe I'll take the deflector to a plexiglass place and ask them to duplicate it in tinted (non-yellowing) plexiglass and without the antenna.

Also, at RRocket's request, I found some large paper and traced it as best I could, I'm going to bring it to a fedex printshop and scan it in. So in theory, you could download the file and take it to a printshop and print out a template to cut your own duplicate.

I'll post that when I get a chance to have it scanned.

Has anyone tried to use a headlight cleaning product to remove the yellow on the wind deflector?

I buffed it with a drill and meguires plastix (sometimes used for headlights). Then I tried this with hydrogen peroxide & sunlight: http://www.retrofixes.com/2013/10/ho...-plastics.html

Neither took any of the yellow off.

Tinting it made it so I couldn't really notice the yellow.

thanks for answering my question. I have the same product and thought about giving it a try...won’t worry now! Guess the yellow is beneath the surface!

My ameteur understanding of yellowing plastics is that it's a chemical reaction that happens throughout the whole thing, not something on the surface.

The reason that hydrogen peroxide and UV works on some plastics is that the hydrogen peroxide bonds to the molecules that are turning it yellow with the catalyst of UV rays.

Chemistry isn't my specialty, so if you want more info, google will give you a much better and more accurate explanation, but I think that's the jist of it.

RRocket had asked me to create a template for the wind deflector.

I traced it as accurately as I could onto a large sheet of paper, then took it to fedex and scanned it in. I have attached it to this post.

In theory, you would be able to make a clone (without the useless JDM cell antenna) if you find yourself some 5mm plexiglass.

I imagine you could take it to a plastics shop and have them create one for you, even with a tinted plexiglass that would be really nice.
