EDIT: What a difference! I'm not a racer by any means, but it's nice to not have to dip so far into the throttle to get some response. Thanks for the tip, BGW.

Looking for a few more details, specifically on "how" to drive the car initially after following the instructions in post #7, in re-setting the ECU.

How many repetitions and up to what sort of speed from 0 MPH does one need to take the vehicle so that you can consider this quick fix done?

I simply drive the way I drive. Not sure how long it takes to "learn", but the response is much more commensurate with have a V8 under the hood. My WAG is that the car keeps on learning until it gets reset again, and eventually comes up with a average response for the driver overall. As I mentioned, I'm not a foot-to-the-floor kind of driver, but neither do I hold up traffic by babying the throttle trying to eke that last tenth of a mpg.

Ironically I changed the spark plugs today at 35,501 miles. It had the original Iridium Denso plugs in it but I went with my old tried and True Bosch Platinums. It made a very Noticeable difference and no more lagging.

And what would be the explanation for the change?

Or the change in plugs forced the computer to re-learn.

Either way, Glad you got it worked out.

For what reason? Plugs don't go bad sitting there. Unless there is something wrong with one or more of the plugs a change in plugs won't clear up hesitation.

Assuming all the plugs were viable. Meaning all were firing correctly, then yes coincidence. Changing a spark plug that is functioning properly to a different brand will have no effect on the performance of the engine. If it happened as you describe then one or more of the plugs should have been compromised. Fouled etc. You should have had some sort of a DTC with the check engine light on if a plug was not firing properly. The computer will pick that up almost 100% of the time. If you had no DTC then it is likely all the plugs were fine.
