Default Bang !!!

Well, i finally pulled the trigger an hour ago. I've come close a few times but today seemed like the right move.

I'll check the stickies but in case it's not there i'm going to need help with:

Radio--L/S doesn't seem quite right
Car has film on hood and fenders--need to remove and put new on
Rims!!- Can't stand them(pancakes). would like tourmalines
Side mirror-L/S doesn't go up or down, only side to side

All help is appreciated in advance.

Sorry not sure what L/S means. If it’s left side, for the radio check balance and fader. Mirror seems to indicate a bad motor. Does the mirror tilt down when the transmission is put into reverse AND the mirror selector switch is NOT in the middle position.

pie plates never heard pancakes before.

No, the mirror doesn't tilt down when in reverse. Passenger side does and moves with switch also.

Watch out regarding film on hood. Depending on how applied in the past and whether car was repainted, removal might take off some paint too. My front bumper needed to be repainted after I had the film professionally removed.

Regarding the mirror not moving up and down. A trick that texsexlex shared was to spray WD40 (or silicone) in behind the glass of the mirror (toward the motors & gears). Then try moving it. It may break loose doing that. It did for mine. You may have to encourage (bump) it at the start to get moving. Once it starts to move, move it a fair amount with the adjustment switch to help get the lubrication in there and hopefully remove the debris out. I recommend keeping the switch set to move during reverse so that it keeps mobile. I noticed when I stopped doing that with mine with the expectation of extending the life of the plastic gears in there, it froze up.

I tried to 'persuade ' the mirror up and down but with no luck . Will try the wd40 trick-thank you. Are there seperate motors for the mirror directions? ie. one for up/down and one for left/right ?

Watch out regarding film on hood. Depending on how applied in the past and whether car was repainted, removal might take off some paint too. My front bumper needed to be repainted after I had the film professionally removed. I HAVE TO remove the film. It's full of scratches and unsightly. From what previous owner told me i imagine it was on from original sale.Wish me luck!! thanks for the info.

Two motors. This thread covers everything you need to know about your outside mirrors. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...r-removal.html
