Default Thinking of buying a SC430, question about paint codes and facelift.

I've decided I want an 06+ for the 6spd/suspension/etc... but I'm torn about colors. Starfire Pearl is gorgeous, but I think I prefer White Gold Crystal. According to the sticky (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...brochures.html) the 2006 brochure lists WGC as a color choice and the 2007 brochure lists SFP as a color choice. This contradicts almost everything I've read on this forum, where people say SFP started in 06 with the facelift.

So my question is, if I wait long enough, is there technically a chance I might find a WGC 06? If so, would anyone happen to know how many were produced and with which interior/trim colors?

I guess if SFP started in 06, I'm torn between the Twilight Amethyst Pearl and SFP. This car had a lot of VERY beautiful color choices/combos, this is a pretty great problem to be having, lol.

Hi there I have a WGC and personally I prefer the WGC The WGC at certain light also give off a slight tint of Gold and is quite unique. Here is my SC when I took her out last weekend

Beautiful cars... are these 06's? I've done some more research with the VIN numbers, and it does in-fact look like you could get WGC in 06 with a 6spd. For some reason it looks like they switched to SFP in 07.

This is great news for me, except that now it's reduced my search to a single year of the car, lol. Add to that, I want the camel/espresso maple trim, now i'm hunting for a needle in a haystack. All part of the fun of hunting down the "perfect" car I suppose.

Aside from the "gold package" (aka gold badges), were there any other options or packages that differentiate the cars?

The car in the photo in post #3 has some unique features: Tourmaline wheels, front fender repeaters lamps (European & Australia) and trunk lid badges removed. From what we can see, Ecru interior leather, with Black trim and birds eye maple. Tail lamps indicate an 06 or greater, but they may have been an owner upgrade.
The car in post #2 is not an 06 or greater. You can tell by the headlamps.

See, that's what I thought too and I think most people on this board think that from what I've read. But 1) the brochures in the sticky contradict that and show WGC in 2006 and 2) I checked a bunch of "white" 2006 VINs on lexus.com and they're WGC where as the 07's are all SFP.

https://drivers.lexus.com/lexusdrive.../vehicle-specs
Here's a random white 06 on craigslist:

Does anyone on here have a "White" 06 that can verify?

Joe

I have owned 4 SC430s and trust me on this

02-05 WGC
06-10 SFP

You don’t need another source.

That's disappointing... So you're saying Lexus printed the brochures incorrectly and their VIN decoder has an error?

We should probably correct the sticky as it shows this:

This is the 2006 printed brochure from a lexus dealership scanned:

I suppose you’ll need to check the paint codes, 065 or 077, on the driver’s door VIN plate to be 100% sure.

I'm sure you're probably correct, but if someone who has a 06 in "white" could snap a pic of the color code on the inside of the drivers door, I could sleep better at night, lol.

Are you looking for a 06 with WGC ?

Not exactly sure what your concerns are ?

You would be the first who could get a 06
in WGC because WGC was not made after
05. Remember you are talking to a guy who
has owned 4 SC430’s .. I know everything avout
the SC 430 but I guess I still could be wrong

Again only way to know certainly is to check the VIN PLATE on the door. But I check through some old references and found this:

yes, in my ideal scenario, I would want a post-facelift (6spd/etc) in WGC (not starfire pearl). If my research is correct, that would be an 06. But I guess we won't know if that's possible for sure until someone takes a pic of their door jam.

It's also entirely possible that someone at Lexus messed up their marketing material I suppose. Stranger things have happened, but everything I'm seeing is telling me 06 is WGC. So before I spend the time hunting down the perfect 06 and ignoring all the 07+ cars, I want to make sure I'm not mistaken.

Thank you for posting this. I also found this thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...rmed-data.html

There is a lot of data points indicating that 06 might be WGC but like you said, we won't know till we see a color code in the door jam. I'm sure someone will see this and clear it up for us.
