That IS hilarious. I can't see how these guys can really make a blanket statement about the value of an automobile when they have no idea what is important to the buyer. I like the looks and performance, love the stereo, drool over the interior and happen to think this is one of the most refined automobiles on the road. Oh, and it's still refined when the top is down!

I have no plans to take it to the track, so I can't imagine any other car in this price category that I would find more enjoyable. I guess the Brits know about as much about cars as they do about dentistry!

What a bunch of morons. I'm sure they think it is a good use of money to by a $90,000 piece of crap Jaguar. Or $300,000 for a bloated Rolls Royce Corniche convertible.

Seems like luxury-oriented coupes always get a bum wrap since they aren't competitive with serious sports cars. I used to have a Subaru SVX which was a fantastic car but sold poorly because it wasn't a true muscle car and some didn't like its odd looks (it had the Lamborghini style window-in-window). But that car was a supreme ride for seven years and got a lot of attention. When I moved to Arizona few had ever even seen one before!

I have pretty good taste and think the SC430 is the best looking coupe on the road right now, save maybe the new M-B SL. I'll take the Lexus quality and save the $30k for other toys. It's a great daily driver for me and makes a nice garage-mate to my wife's GX470.

I should have some pics of my new black/ecru SC430 up this weekend. It's spending the night at the dealer to get a few "issues" fixed.

How can you call these guys "morons"??

For your information, who is more qualified to rate cars than tne English. Look at all the wonderful vehicles they've produced: The Jag, the MG, the Rover, the Sterling, etc. All of these cars are extremely dependable (as long as you don't start the engines or try to utilze the electronics).

In the area of styling, they excell as well ! Just look at the shape of the original Mini-Cooper!
What true genius and forsight it took to design a car that looks like a box!

And how about Mr. Lucas, the inventor of the ingenius lighting systems used on many British vehicles. It took a lot of guts to design a system so prone to failure that he was dubbed "The Prince of Darkness"!

Gee, the next thing you guys will be saying is that English cooking isn't bursting with flavor and they need better dental plans!

Well I didn't start this post to affend anyone I just thought it would be helpful to inform you on what other people thought of your car. I guess this guy just love sport's cars. I must admit the sc doesn't look nice with some 18in chrome wheels.

No need to inform us on anything about our cars, only the real owners are the real "experts " on our vehicles, it's our opinions that really counts.

Yes, and I 've cross shopped the Jag XKR, and the new SL500 before I bought the SC430. When you take everything into account, dollar for dollar, nothing available in the market even come close. And its obvious the SC isn't even meant to be a sports car, and should not be evaluated as one. Have to admit Lexus did screw up with the runflats (which should be made a real option instead) which give the car a less luxurious ride to some, but it's a problem that can be easily resolved, and no, I don't buy this type of car worrying about trunk space. There is always the back seats, which actually make the car more versatile than a two-seater( only real owners know that )

BTW, even Mario Andretti said that the SL55, the sportiest of SL's, isn't a real sports car, and is more of a cruiser than one meant for the track, and it finished a distant 6th in a track test by a European magazine in which the aging NSX-R won.

The vast majority of people buy cars in this class for normal (& legal) driving on public roads, and how well it handles in high speed on a track just isn't a very relevant factor. If one wants a car mainly for taking it to the track, an overweight hard-top convertible will never be the best choice in any price range

It's obvious you don't need to be informed with that type response.
That's the most hilarious statement I have heard in a long time. Just about everybody would like to know what people think of their car.

Hilarious? I, and I believe all of the owners here, have done tons of research and test driven many cars before we bought our SC430.

BTW, I've read some of your past posts, and all I have to tell the other owners is : don't feed the trolls.

If i'm a troll, then it shouldn't be a gs section on the cl board. Don't get mad with me that the BBC didn't praise your car.

Larry, we all know you were kidding... and we also know Rogers IS a troll who's very jealous that he doesn't own an SC430. No other logical reason for him to be hanging around this board or to be posting negative articles when he doesn't even own the car.

SexySC is right... no one knows the car like the owners.

Why is he a troll ? His posts seem OK to me. I like reading both positive and negative comments. Keeps us objective.
