Well Preserved 2002 Lexus SC430 Is a Pure Puff Piece
By Brett Foote

The SC isn't the most beloved Lexus of all-time, but this might just be the nicest one left! Check it out inside.

Hmmmmmm....while I appreciate the information in this little story/ad about this 02 SC430, I’m certain I don’t agree with the underlying and implied message the SC430’s are not a ‘real’ sports car.

No, it’s a RELIABLE luxury sports convertible cruiser. It is not some austere, uncomfortable, overpriced, and mechanically dealer depended European import. Our SC430 Lexus gives endless hours of enjoyment to its owner and passengers while those ‘real’ sports cars spend much of their lives supporting mechanics, dealership owners, while causing frowns, frustrations and drained accounts.

The SC430s are a reliable fun-to-drive, comfortable to sit in, for two, wind through my thinning hair, sports car. Weather it’s (homophone intended) Southern California or South Florida this year round Coupe knows its place in the hearts, and souls, of many. Sure, the SC430 may never have the fall-to-their-knees, koolaid drinking Jim Jones fanatics. Instead we are the ones satisfied with money-in-the-bank, driving down the road, and only stopping to offer to call a tow truck for that just got-out-of-the-shop, now broken down again Italian supercars.

It’s true, some SC430 owners keep their convertible car locked up as a garage Queen. And, for those of you who live in more frigid zones, I’m sadden you do not have the chance to drop-the-top on a frigidly crisp but clear February day. Heck, there might even be a person or two who has one hidden in dimly lite corner of a collection of car memorabilia, but the fact is the car IS in the collection.

So the car may be the Rodney Dangerfield of sports cars, you know the one always looking for respect. But it’s my SC convertible, and not only do I love it, I drive it proudly.

I am going to chimed in after Bob .. I owned and sold a 2002 SC430 . Sold it with about 25K miles ,, It is my Garage Queen !!. Everything is mint . The leather is like new and supple ...
And the best of all ,, I sold it at plus $ 10K well above the BEST Kelly Blue Book price . Right around the high $20K mark .
It proves that there is a market for well preserved Lexus SC430 no matter the years ,, but condition and mileage counts !!!!

I have owned three "real" sports cars in the past and got rid of them. I much prefer combined ride, practicality, performance, and luxury of the SC430. There is no comparison against any other 2 seater for long term ownership of a two seater convertible that is fun to drive, is safe, extremely comfortable, roomy, and most importantly very reliable.

Just to add .. Never believed in Kelly Blue Book price when selling your SC430 . Especially if you have a low mileage and well maintained car. regardless of the year !. KBB will penalized any car estimates more on the year ,, and less on the mileage !!!

Looking for some input since you were successful in selling your 02-SC430 for over $10k from kbb.
I pretty sure my 08-SC 430 is one of the top 5 in the country with only 18,000 miles and looks like
it came off the production line today. I have it advertised on Autotrader and Cargurus with very little interest.
Any suggestions or thoughts would be appreciated.
Thank u
BRK

BRK,,
Just be patience , . You need to find a private buyer not a used car dealer to beat KBB !. It took me about 2 years to get it sold , once I make my decision to sell it . I think the buyer paid me $26,200. and he even has to ship the car across the border to Canada ..
So its a win win for both of us
Here is some last pictures before I say bye bye to my Lexie
