(Not The) Enthusiast's Choice

Lexus sold quite a few SCs over the years, there's no denying that. But suffice to say, it isn't exactly the first choice of most enthusiasts. The reasons why are obvious. This is a super plush, ultra-luxurious convertible. A car that carries, well, a bit of an "image." Which, unfortunately, overshadows the fact that the SC is a pretty fantastic vehicle in its own right. But that disdain also means you can score a very nice used example for a very cheap price.

Bargain or Bust?

Look no further than this stellar SC430, which recently popped up on the San Francisco/Bay Area Craigslist, for proof. With an ultra cheap asking price of $9,900, you could buy what is possibly the nicest SC left in existence. Sure, it might not be nearly as cool as the earlier SC, but it's chock full of nice stuff you won't find in any other car in this price range. And that alone makes this a potential bargain.

Low Miles! Really!

This isn't some kind of super high-mileage ride, either. For the price of a well-used LS, you can score an SC with a mere 88,000 miles on the odometer. The 4.3-liter 3UZ-FE engine is easily clean enough to eat off of. And with 288 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque, it won't exactly embarrass you on the freeway on-ramp, either.

Like New Threads

As nice as the engine bay is, the interior is absolutely immaculate. Unlike many cars from this era, the SC's design doesn't look outdated today. It's ultra comfy and plush, which should help you ignore the opinions of everyone judging you on the outside. The leather seats don't even show any obvious wear, which is unusual for an 88k car. And hey, it's even got navigation and a Mark Levinson sound system, albeit with a CD/cassette tape combo.

Coming Back Around

And about that exterior. Well, Egyptian Sand Pearl isn't the manliest of colors. And this thing has chrome wheels, which aren't exactly in fashion anymore. But it's way too nice to mess with, and old school stuff like this always comes back in fashion, right? And when you take into account that this thing cost around $60k new, you don't have to worry about depreciation anymore, either!
