If you just want additional audio features you can go with the GROM. But if you want video features, like a backup camera, then Beatsonic is how most people have gone.

I would only like to slightly interject here... if someone only wants to add a rear camera to an any headunit, all that is needed is either NavTool or NavIKS (and the camera of choice, of course). It will create a dedicated video line that will show on the OEM headunit when you shift into reverse. If the plan is to add a new headunit and use the steering wheel controls (which I believe only controls the volume- ie. mode and track select are inoperational), then BeatSonic is needed. Just wanted to clarify that, but please correct me if I"m wrong.
The Beatsonic provides the following controls on the steering wheel.
Volume, set button allows preset volume level
Fader, (front rear) using arrow buttons
Mode, changes NAV screen from GPS to Aux video input.
Some steering wheel controls have a different purpose with BeatSonic.
