I changed out the original free air speaker with a JL Audio speaker, and added a separate Xtant amp just to power the subwoofer, along with a separate volume control. There was a space for an additional amp right next to the original amp. Had the speaker brackets reinforced as it was rattling with the additional bass.

Totally invisible, huge improvement over the original sub.

KUSSEIN,

The factory sub is 8" but if you want to do some nibbling you can squeeze a 10" in its place.. Been playing with this idea but afraid to be the first.. Was hoping someone else wanted to try this to give me some insight.. Let us know what you come up with..

Default SUB IN TRUNK?L

I just came back from the audio store and they fixed the muzzled sound. Holy s#*t huge difference
i love it. 2JL audio w6s and a 1000watt JL amp "need all that wattage to push the sound through all that metal" give me the the thump i was looking for .Not too loud but loud enough for me i do not like systems you can hear 6 blocks away.

Kussein if they remove the OEM sub it will also open an 8" hole that will allow more bass into the pass compartment.

No I have not but i would do it. It should take your installer less than 45 minutes which shouldnt cost much.

its a convertable, ur not gonna get any good bass out of that trunk. I would Stick with some MB Quarts or boston pro components and amp the hell out of them if I were to do some audio. Just my 2cents on the topic

The only thing between the sub and the passenger compartment is the back seat. It comes through pretty good if you add the amp. I agree that you still need to push some from the door woofers, but the sub adds the nice bottom to the sound.

RodF, How did your installer run the OEM amp into the new amp for the audio signal?
