Default Hidden Trailer Hitch

Hello all, I have done this type of hitch on street rods before, so why not on my SC. I didn't want to ruin the lines of the car with a large hitch installed in sight. This hitch for me is to move my alum trailer the SC travels on, usually 100 yards to a parking space. I would not tow a tandem axle ski boat with this design , but I would install a bike rack, etc... The weak point for this design is the 6 self tapping 12 mm bolts that hold the bumper to the car. YOU.. could incorporate the tow eye bolt hole in the bumper to increase the holding power if you need something heavier. I spent $18 dollars on this project.

Agree, nice work!

question, do you remove your plate when you use the hitch?

That is cool! Besides $18 it probably involves 8 hours of labor and planning

It's either removing the plate or has a spare.

....if you look at the next to last pic, the plate is mounted to a swivel mount/base & folds down. It reminds me of the old cars that had the gas cap behind the license plates

I noticed that. However if you're towing, you would need to have a plate at the back of what's being towed.

Sorry about that , the plate holder is from Summit Racing .. spring loaded
this is the same style that was used on the 70s Chevy to hide the gas cap
