Default New owner and the inevitable tire question

Hello All,

Been on the boards for awhile now- I have a 2008 LS460. Just picked up a 2005 SC430 as a toy and I hesitate to ask this question...I have no doubt it has been answered 300 times before, but I've searched the forum for "best tire" type discussions and can't seem to find any recent ones.

So...my SC has run flats and those have to come off immediately. They are like concrete. Can anyone recommend good non runflat tires for the car? I appreciate the help!

Brian

Brian, we need to know what you're looking for in a tire. I.e. Long life, quiet, full out traction, all season etc.

Sorry- all season performance (decent cornering but I'm not expecting it to be a Porsche) and quiet operation are the priorities. Thanks.

My two suggestions would be either Michelin pilot sport A/S 3, or bfgoodrich sport comp A/S

there are recent what tire threads on here. One from just last month.

I got rid of the terrible run flat "fork lift" tires and installed a set of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires. Purchased from and installed by Costco. The Michelin's are great and very quiet, vastly improved the overall ride and handling on the car. It's like night and day.

EDIT: I'v got the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3 not Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 (thats on my other car) on mine and they are great.
There is also Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S which has replaced the Michelin Pilot Super Sport but they start at 19" and for what you are asking the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 would be a better fit.

There is a great video on the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S just incase you were wondering

I have the BFG Sport Comp A/S on my 2005 on after market rims. I like them for the price I paid and am happy but they are not the quietest tires. I knew what I was buying when I made the decision and did not want to pay up for Mich so I am still pleased with my decision. And I like the look of the tread pattern too.
